The Delta Flyers Podcast

They just started season five - and it's fun overall. They sprinkle in some recollections of filming that they can remember, and interpretations of what they must have chosen to do as actors or what the production crew must have done. It's a worthwhile listen, very much the equivalent of listening to them at a convention.

Yes it's fun. I particularly like the discussion about how they filmed stuff, like the scene where Tom and B'Elanna are floating in space suits.

I've been listening to the Delta Flyers since back when they started and it is a really good podcast. Garret Wang's got a good memory for what actually happened (even if he keeps pointing out the times he misremembered episodes at conventions) and Robert McNeill is a director who understands that side of making television.

My only real complaint is that now I want actors from other series to make their own episode-by-episode podcasts.

Thirty Days: apparently the episode was 10 minutes short! They added all the brig scenes afterwards to make the episode the right length and filmed them about a month later.

The Delta Flyers episode about "One Small Step" is really fascinating. Bryan Fuller is a guest star and they talk about the process of writing an episode that is written by multiple writers and how to film scenes with zero gravity effects.

For those who have listened to a good deal (or all) of Garrett and Robbie's Delta Flyers podcast - have they ever indicated what they plan to do when their Voyager rewatch is finished, in terms of continuing the pod in some way? (They're at just about the start of S7 now, and are really good about releasing a show every week, so they should be done with Endgame by early September.) I just found the pod about a month ago and am considering a subscription for the extra content, but if they've indicated that it might continue in some form beyond their current rewatch - I would fully support them rewatching TNG, DS9, or ENT, for example - or, heck, the original series!!! - that might influence me to pull the chain and support it for sure.

Maybe someone knows the answer to your question in this thread Phaser Two.

I've merged both existing podcast threads together. Seems to make sense. I listened to one of the early podcasts but they're not really my thing.

Whoops - thanks for this, @Akiraprise! I don't know why I didn't think the pod would have its own thread somewhere.

I subscribed just this week, Ensign level but what I really wanted was the Kate Mulgrew interview they teased on the Threshold episode. :) I wish I had subscribed from the get go (just about a month ago for me). Now I’m going back and relistening to over a season of podcast episodes because there are waaay more guest interviews than I realized! I don’t know what they’ll do next but for now, $3 for the extra interviews and other tidbits is worth it for me.

I have never been a fan of podcasts or audio books or anything of the sort, my brain just doesn’t do well multitasking like that and I really can’t sit still for hours listening (no commute). Somehow though, this podcast is just familiar enough that I can do about half my job with it on and just pause it when I need more concentration. The guys sometimes do remind me of when I taught high school but they do have a lot of interesting memories and insights and their sillier hijinks get better as the show progresses.

I'm just up to the end of S6 and no I don't think they've said what they will do next other than joking about a theatre production of Captain Proton. I haven't subscribed though - I like having the podcast on in the background when I'm doing things so I'm not interested in the video version - they may have said on the subscription version. I would enjoy their observations of the other series.

Oh, that's interesting, thanks for sharing. Is it one guest per episode? Or one guest every few episodes? It sounds like there may be a lot more to the subscription version than I had realised!

I’m only on the fifth episode listening with the “full audio” version but, so far, I think there’s been a guest for every episode as in someone to whom they at least throw a question or two. It was an effects guy for the pilot episode who explained how they made the fire hurricanes in the badlands, for instance. Also more memories during their “What do you remember” part than I expected and the scene they want a chance to redo has led to interesting insights too. The extra parts to the recording have genuinely added something interesting every time thus far.

Thanks. Have they hinted at continuing after the rewatch is done?
