Re: The Assassination of Brady's Legacy By the Fat Coward Deflator McN

The REAL question is, can the Commission of Owners punt Goodell as he so richly deserves? I don't like Brady or Belichick, but I purely despise Goodell and what he's done to the League. Has he screwed up enough in this and other things to warrant some kind of no-confidence vote and get him replaced?

He serves at the owners' leisure, but considering every team is making more money than it ever has before, and Goodell has effectively broken the union on multiple occasions, the word has always been that the owners are largely content with him. I'm sure Bob Kraft would like to kick him in the dick right about now, but that's only one voice among 32. That might change as we get closer to the expiration of his contract in 2019, but until then, unless he's caught on camera raping a chihuahua in the middle of the Super Bowl, he's safe.

Re: The Assassination of Brady's Legacy By the Fat Coward Deflator McN

^^^ Fair enough assessment and, sadly, probably 100% correct.

Re: The Assassination of Brady's Legacy By the Fat Coward Deflator McN

Honestly, we'll see. He SHOULD get kicked out, but the owners are fairly fat and lazy in that regard. as long as the money keeps coming in...

That said, there's an Owner's meeting next month. At the very least, i'd imagine we're about to see a severe curtailing of his powers over discipline going forward. That and a slap on the wrist might be it this time (and hopefully cleaning house of the stooges behind him acting as advisers and legal council), but no way he survives another mistake.

After all this nonsense, going to 0-lifetime on court appeals, spending 5M plus on a crap report, and another 10-15M so far fighting it in court, he's gotta be close. He's making them money, but most of that is the product itself and not anything in particular he's done. His fuckups are starting to cost owners money, and can't see that continuing. And he's now burned the bridge with what had been his biggest supporter, Kraft. Next time he Ray Rices a situation, I doubt Kraft will stand up to support him; he'll let him swing in the wind...

Goodell is the one who strong-armed the networks (and, last year, DirecTV) into the current ridiculous television deals. In 2014, NFL teams earned 20 percent more year-over-year than they did in 2013. That's a big piece in his favor.

Re: The Assassination of Brady's Legacy By the Fat Coward Deflator McN

And no one else could have pulled that off? It's a product that kinda sells itself. Seeing him in action, not a mastermind by any means

Re: The Assassination of Brady's Legacy By the Fat Coward Deflator McN

Again, very few people are as good as he in negotiations; there's a reason Tagliabue selected him as his top lieutenant like 15 years ago, there's a reason he was able to break the NFLPA back in 2011 and he's pretty brilliant at PR. His biggest problem is the "protect the shield" bullshit, and if he stopped behaving along those lines he'd be fine, and I'm sure he will be fine, since he already got out in front of Ballghazi and said he's fine with his role in player discipline being adjusted.

Again, the union signed a deal saying that Goodell could be the ultimate arbiter of all things discipline. I chalk that up to DeMaurice Smith being a complete fucking moron more than anything else, and I'm sure the owners absolutely love that he was re-elected earlier this year. The NFLPA has never had a Donald Fehr or Marvin Miller, and it's honestly a miracle that they made the labor rights advances that they did in the '80s and '90s.

Re: The Assassination of Brady's Legacy By the Fat Coward Deflator McN

The discipline thing will be out of his job description by the end of the October meeting, pretty sure. Neither side is thrilled by his performance or record there. Maybe he can handle the business end of things and stay out of football, and should be no where NEAR a courtroom again. Reading transcripts from his 'input' into arbitration, he's not even high functioning, he was painfully stupid.

His advisors, legal team, and former JETS stooges in various power roles should all be out on their ass, though. Clearly not good at their jobs, obvious agendas, just dragging the league down. If you can't act professional, maybe the multi-billion dollar franchise isn't the thing you should be running? Maybe more like a burger king or something...

Re: The Assassination of Brady's Legacy By the Fat Coward Deflator McN

AND the amusement continues...
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin isn’t too happy with the headset situation at Gillette Stadium, and he says it isn’t the first time.
“We were listening to the Patriots radio broadcast for the majority of the first half on our headsets,” said Tomlin.

...

On the Steelers official website, they released the following statement:
This is the kind of stuff that happens to the visiting team in Gillette Stadium all the time. From the start of the game through the opening 14 minutes of the first quarter, the Steelers’ coaches’ headsets were receiving the Patriots Radio Network broadcast of the game. The broadcast was so loud that the Steelers coaches were unable to communicate, and the NFL rule is that if one team’s headsets are not working the other team is supposed to be forced to take their headsets off. It’s what the NFL calls the Equity Rule. Strangely enough, whenever an NFL representative proceeded to the New England sideline to shut down their headsets, the Steelers headsets cleared. Then as the representative walked away from the New England sideline, the Steelers’ headsets again started to receive the Patriots game broadcast.
Wow...just...wow. I knew the Pats would start playing their little games again, but I didn't think it would happen this soon.

Re: The Assassination of Brady's Legacy By the Fat Coward Deflator McN

Oh for fucks sake. This happens in very single NFL stadium. It happens all over the league. Hell Belichick has talked about it happening in other stadiums to him.

What you are telling me is that BB had someone there with some sort of frequency adjuster or whatnot, that would pipe the Patriots radio feed into the Steelers headsets, and he would just have the guy turn it off whenever the NFL checked? Jesus christ listen to yourself. Even Belichick said after the game that THEIR headsets were getting screwed up as well.

We are going to hear this shit after every game this year. Some head coach bitching about some perceived slight by the Pats. BB is so far into their heads he should pay fucking rent.

Yep. He says a lot of things.

Yep. Any decent HAM operator could build such a device for a couple dollars from Radio Shack or ARCH Electronics parts. You act as if it's so hard to believe that anyone could/would do such a thing.

Jesus christ listen to yourself. Even Belichick said after the game that THEIR headsets were getting screwed up as well.
Yep. He says a lot of things.

You put forth your statements under the assumption that anyone outside of Boston finds Belichick to be a trustworthy individual. Do I really need to do the math for you on that one?

We are going to hear this shit after every game this year. Some head coach bitching about some perceived slight by the Pats. BB is so far into their heads he should pay fucking rent.
So you should probably get used to it then.

I am quoting this so that I can save it as a perfect example of the term "thin - skinned."

Re: The Assassination of Brady's Legacy By the Fat Coward Deflator McN

Because it's ridiculous, and the concept of any sort of logical analysis when these issues comes up is thrown out the window because it's the Patriots, and THEY'RE CHEATERS!! WAHHH! The moment that the headset communication thing came up, the storyline is not, on look ANOTHER tech fuck up, this shit happens all the time in the league. It's BB is doing something again! OH NOES!

I'm thin skinned? How about these teams take responsibility for their lack of preparation and lack of execution. You don't see Belichick whining and complaining when his team loses. He says we got outplayed and moves on to the next week.

Whatever, the Pats will do what they do, roll into the playoffs, and compete for another Superbowl. As they have done every year for the past decade and a half.

Oh, and Mike Tomlin himself was suspended games for INTENTIONALLY TRIPPING AN OPPOSING PLAYER. But he's totally trustworthy. It's just the surly Belichick is the lying manipulator.

Re: The Assassination of Brady's Legacy By the Fat Coward Deflator McN

Just look at the Pats as being...say...the Donald Trump of the NFL.

They're on top of everyone else, they're seemingly unbeatable and unflappable and their leadership can inexplicably talk their way out of any catastrophe that would bury any other team, defying all logic, citing extreme skill and sheer guile. Nobody actually thinks they got there all on their own except their "true believers" and everyone else wants a piece of them and to watch them crash and burn and dance in gleeful freudenschade around the flames.

Yep. That's The Donald, and that's The Pats.

Re: The Assassination of Brady's Legacy By the Fat Coward Deflator McN

I've said it before.

1. The Patriots are an exceptionally good team and have been for the past 13 years.

2. The Patriots do not make it easy to like them.

Re: The Assassination of Brady's Legacy By the Fat Coward Deflator McN

^^^ Again, just like Trump. :D

How do the Pats talk themselves out of penalties again?

Remember that time the Pats filmed signals from 10 feet closer to the field than allowed, and lost a 1st rounder and like 750k, and were branded cheaters forever after? Remember when the Broncos did the exact same thing, 3 years AFTER that, and lost, uh, no draft picks and only 100k?

Remember that time the Pats lost a 1st, 4th, and a million bucks because cold weather makes balls lose air pressure? Remember when the Colts lost NOTHING when 3 out of the 4 balls that were measured were ALSO illegally low, even though their balls started around 13.1 or so instead of 12.5?

Remember when Brett Favre destroyed his phone during an investigation, and was fined 25k? Or when Brady did the same (after asking whether the phone would be required and being told NO), and was suspended 4 games, and had to take it to court to get it tossed?

Sure am glad the Pats can sweet-talk their way out of punishments that other teams get away with! Otherwise, they'd be in real trouble!

Now the Steelers are filing a formal complaint with the NFL against the Pats because the comms system PROVIDED BY THE NFL worked like shit for both teams? Can't wait to see how this is the Pats' fault. Or should we even bother, and just punish them now? You've already got the 1st rounder, why not just take 2 2nd rounders to balance it out? Or is the 1st from 2017 draft good? Can we give it directly to the Steelers to say sorry for being mean about the goal line trick? Or is a muffin basket good there?

Jesus, guys, get your shit together. Where was Belichick when Kennedy was shot? Are we SURE he wasn't involved? We KNOW he invented concussions so he wouldn't have to play against your best players. Where do we stand on him and AIDS? SURE that was the government? ESPN better get on this shit before he strikes again!

Also, STFU Tomlin. It's either nothing, or a diabolical sabotage effort by the home team. Which way would you like to go? Or do you suspect the Pats did something because you know YOU did? It's either a random occurrence or on purpose, which way would you like to go?

At least Bill didn't walk onto the field and trip someone to break up a TD run. That would be truly unforgivable, and should be handled by a firing, or better yet, firing SQUAD on the 50 yard line. Pretty sure Belichick doesn't get away without a year's vacation for that little oopsies...

Re: The Assassination of Brady's Legacy By the Fat Coward Deflator McN

The writhing and moaning is incredibly amusing.

Re: The Assassination of Brady's Legacy By the Fat Coward Deflator McN

Right? How dare we discuss this. It's not like it's a national story or anything. Oh wait. You can throw any accusation you want, but don't we dare defend the team. That's just whining.
