Teaser for season finale

The neck also looks thicker on this ship than on the Excelsior (and it has windows, which the Excelsior neck doesn't). Another reason I suspect it's a different class.
The Cerritos is longer than an Excelsior. (530 meters vs 466) While this new ship seems to be way bigger.

Though it is possible it's just closer to the camera.

Here's another angle from the trailer

I like "Sulu class" because, well, not only does Hikaru deserve the honor, but he was so excited about the original Excelsior...it seems fitting that a ship class based on that, would be named after him. :techman:

It does seem to have the Enterprise-B "bathtub" extensions around the deflector (which itself is lifted from the Enterprise-E). I wonder if they'll riff on Generations and First Contact.

Making things looks Sovereignly is a thing in fan circles too. There's a ton of fan art refits that try to adapt old designs into the post-TNG aesthetic.

In some licensed products as well, like STO. (I believe In the game's lore this is a brand new design, not an actual refit of a Galaxy-Class. It just follows the design lineage)

I'm fairly sure the Enterprise-B was the first time we saw the extensions, in GEN. Two years before the Ent-E was even thought of by the writers.

And the only reason the extensions were there in the first place was so the Ent-B could show battle damage without damaging the model.

I think Jose is referring to the deflector in the bracketed statement.

Ironically, the glue they used to attach those pieces damaged the model.

I got to say, that is unbelievably awful.
