Tapestry Ending Insults Ordinary People

Now I'm imagining that five seconds after Q swooshes Picard back to his normal life the turbolift doors open and Beverly Picard calls out "Jean-Luc? Was that you?"

Watched this ep recently and I agree that it is a bit insulting. The idea that Picard is borderline incompetent just because he isn't the Captain does such an injustice to everyone who just isn't cut out for command. They could have done a better job of making Picard relevant in his Science Officer role.
 
Its interesting that in Picard's nexus fantasy, his fantasy wife looked nothng like Beverly Crusher lol

I don't think he's considered borderline incompetent, just that he lacks the kind of drive and ambition that makes one well-suited for command. And there's nothing wrong with that. After all, a captain without any crew isn't going to get very far either.
 
I just watched it with commentary and I'm pretty sure you're right. I understand the desire to do that, but I think it was unfortunate in this instance.
