I'm a few episodes behind but I think moving to the CW is a good move. Hopefully this means a few more crossovers in the future.

At least on the CW, it'll have a chance to go the distance just like the other shows. I didn't think it would on CBS and sure enough it was pretty much cancelled there after just one season.

It deserved to be cancelled after one season. It was a mishmash of clichés and rehashed storylines and flat out identity theft (half the time she was just a Superman stand-in). I would welcome the news of the move to CW if I thought a total revamp came with it. But if all that happens is that the FX budget is reduced, I say "big deal."

As long as a Canadian network keeps broadcasting it, I don't care about the switch (can't get CW on cable in Quebec). I like the idea of crossovers (1 or 2 per season) but I'd rather they didn't move the whole thing into the "Arrowverse". I like the notion of parallel worlds and the options they provide for storytelling.

I hope this means a stronger connection with the Arrowverse...let's see Kara drop in on Barry!

I just hope for improved writing. The show just has never seemed to hit on "all cylinders" to me.

Maybe they can show it at 9pm Wednesday after Arrow, and make it a 2 hour soap opera block. Then again, maybe not. Arrow's relationship drama and Supergirl's Cat grant being so close together might cause a wormhole of garbage so large that it absorbs the Earth. Better safe then sorry. I vote for a Sunday, 8am time slot instead

I think the move is good for Supergirl, but I wonder if CBS sacrificing too much. To me, it feels like CBS is literally dropping a good and profitable show so it can put its focus and resources on its All Access service and the new Star Trek series.

I doubt those two decisions are directly correlated. They're the things that get the most attention from us genre fans, but CBS's execs have a bunch of other shows and strategic decisions to deal with as well. It sounds like dropping Supergirl was mainly about the license fee they had to pay Warner Bros. for broadcasting a property they didn't own. Between the budget for the show's effects, the LA filming, and the cost of the license fee, it was just too expensive, and though it was performing well with younger demographics, its overall ratings weren't high enough to offset those costs. There's no reason that Star Trek or All Access should have any influence on that decision.

And that encourages me that it won't need to skimp on FX or casting on The CW. Now it'll be strictly owned by WB with no license fee needed, and Vancouver filming will be cheaper, so hopefully they can keep up the quality on the rest of it.

I am happy that Calista Flockhart is staying with the show. My big concern with a move to Vancouver was losing her. She has a young son and very famous husband who spend most of the year in Los Angeles.

Though no season changes have been announced yet, after the ever-sinking ratings of season one, Berlanti & Co. need to make significant changes to the entire plotting structure and characterization of SG to make audiences comfortable in thinking the 1st season was just a rough "testing ground" of sorts. It has to be able to turn into something truly compelling without the possible idea/promise of crossovers, since the one from S1 did nothing to improve the overall series.

They need to shake things up--like killing off a couple of characters as part of the Cadmus storyline.....

I assume they'll still use the digital "National City" (LA) cityscape for the FX shots, and the same stock establishing shots of CatCo, the city, the DEO, etc. So hopefully it won't look too different. But National City's gonna get less sunny next year, it seems.

The rooftop scene from tonight's Legends of Tomorrow looked bright and sunny enough to pass for the National City we've already been getting. And of course, The Flash is already about as bright.

How's this for a Season 2 story, that has a corporate synergy tie-in with BVS:
Superman dies off-screen in between seasons, and we do Reign of the Supermen. That way, you can cast an actor as a faux Superman without actually casting Superman.

It doesn't look quite the same to me, thought maybe that's because the broadcast quality on my CW station is lower than on CBS.

Really happy to hear about the second season and that it's going to be on the CW now. I enjoyed the first season for the most part, but it did feel like the producers were simplifying their style and dumbing things down a little too much in order to reach that wider CBS audience. So it'll be nice to see some slightly edgier storytelling like we usually get with their other shows-- while hopefully still maintaining the more hopeful and optimistic spirit of Supergirl herself.

As for more crossovers, it's obviously going to be happening a lot more now, but I'd prefer that they keep Supergirl contained to her own world for a while longer so she can continue exploring the unique role she plays there-- and so she doesn't become just one more superhero running around in the crowded Arrowverse world. And plus it would make the crossovers actually feel cool and unique, unlike now where characters in the Arrowverse pop up on each other's shows so often that it just doesn't feel nearly as special as it once did.
