‘Stranger Things’ Creators Matt and Ross Duffer Took ‘Time to Mourn’ the End, Share Hopes for a 2025 Release: ‘Quite the Push’

The brothers will jump right back into post-production, though, which will occupy a huge chunk of their year. “Right now, we’re just cutting all the visual effects sequences for the show so they can get started on those, so that they can be running in time for a release,” Matt adds.


And when might that be? “A lot of it hasn’t been decided, in terms of exactly the release dates and cadence,” he says. “That’s one reason I’m not allowed to talk about it. We’re getting on a call in about a couple weeks about it. I just know it was very important for us and Netflix that we get it out this year. But even that is quite the push.”

There’s still much that needs to be done before fans can catch the fifth chapter of “Stranger Things” and learn what ultimately happens to the gang from Hawkins and the fate of the Upside Down.

So we're going to probably see 10 years from start to finish of Stranger Things for the show to deliver 42 episodes.

I know there was COVID and strikes and stuff in there... but man.

At least it will have a conclusion... but one of my biggest complaints with the new streaming paradigm is the short seasons, long hiatus and all the while wondering "will this story ACTUALLY be completed or not?"

I hope Netflix will release a 4k box set of the whole show. Although it seems Netflix has stoped releasing physical media of there shows for some reason. I think Season one of Lost in Space was the last time they released a physical disc.

Although this has not been confirmed yet, considering that they shot 650 hours for the 5th and final season, they would have to cut a lot of scenes and do visual effects to turn it into a 15-16 hour version. This means it will take a lot of time.

Just because someone leaked the exact number doesn't mean it's a shocking amount of footage. All tv shows and films shoot far more footage than is in the final cut. That's normal and built into the standard production timeframe.

The Duffer brothers themselves said that they shot for a year, with 650 hours of footage.

Yes, that most likely includes multiple takes of the same shots, bloopers, multiple camera angles, etc. For a TV show, 650 hours of footage is not extraordinary.

I don't think Millie's career will continue outside of Netflix. Especially when you consider that most child actors in Hollywood grow up and end their careers due to early marriages (and Millie has already married) and drug use. I would say that it is very possible for Millie to make those mistakes and end her career, but nowadays those who get into drug trouble continue to make money in some way. Whether as a social media phenomenon, or as an actress or singer.

Of the others, I think only Finn and Sadie will be successful. But this is Hollywood, they will probably all return to their roles with a new series in 10-15 years, by the way, I think Millie is a terrible actress.

So we probably won't get Stranger Things 5 this year? This series is worse than the Flash. At least the Flash was on a regular schedule. This series is taking 10 years for 5 seasons. They better show all the kids working at desk jobs or something. A lot has changed since season 1.

And yes I know this was probably filmed a few years ago, but the audience has grown up and maybe moved on.

yes, it was said in 2019 that girl would end up like this. I think this is still valid. and the fact that the girl has not acted in a movie that is not a Netflix job, other than the 'godzilya movies', shows that she will not be able to hold on to much work outside of Netflix. but what I have noticed since 2019 is that even if such names get involved in scandals like this, they can 'continue' to make money from social media, and drug use and going to jail for drugs are no longer a reason to be canceled in Hollywood. for example, Lindsay Lohan and Macaulay Culkin, who somehow managed to come back to Hollywood

I remain cautiously optimistic for a late summer/early autumn release.

You have to give the show some leeway due to the strikes and other contributing factors.

And honestly, I don't care if the audiences have moved on because I haven't. I'm still eagerly anticipating its conclusion.

They might be Netflix movies, but at this point there's not that much difference in terms of prestige between a Netflix movie and theatrical movies. Her next movie, The Electric State is directed by the Russo Brothers and also has Chris Pratt, Woody Harrelson, Giancarlo Esposito, and Stanley Tucci in the cast. Netflix is releasing a lot of stuff from A list directors and with A List stars, so being in Netflix movies really doesn't mean anything for a person's career.

I am still catching up, started Season 4 with my wife... and haven't read the entire thead here....but any rumor about if they will show the characters in the modern day.... who are basically my age now.
