StarShip FloorPlan Layout in 3D CG Animation

I found this YouTuber named HalfScreen who seems to do good 3D modeling work and shows the layouts / inner workings of many of our favorite things in Star Trek / Star Wars / Sci-Fi in general.

Not bad for a amateur 3D modeler =D

What do you think of his work and the effort / accuracy of the Floor Plans?

I would love to be able to take the 2D set of deck plans that I drafted and convert them to a 3D model with at least this level of detail.

I remember an article at phys.org that dealt with having data sets that could be 3D printed…and another article about a very fast 3D printer that was like a scanner in reverse.

Someday, soon. That is the most exciting and interesting thing about 3D printing technology.

Comparing the details (or lack of details), the video author had problems distinguishing horizontal turbolift shafts from corridors ... things just don't connect.
Thankfully it's only a serious problem on Deck F.
But yeah, unless you already know what you're looking at (from years of starring at Star Trek blueprints!) those low-res deck plans must be pretty mystifying to to a newcomer. Unfortunately I've never seen better quality versions of that set online.
I did suggest the more modern "Strategic Designs" deck plan set to him but by then he'd already started the project.

How about the torpedo bay?
I don’t think the set would fit.
The 1992 deck plans squeeze 2 torpedo bays side by side, although they are a more simplified (and smaller) design that was seen in TWOK. Interestingly, TWOK seems to have been the reason why the author included 2 bays to begin with!
From the synopsis:
Also known as the Torpedo Deck, M Deck houses the Port and Starboard Torpedo Launch Bays. After a torpedo is lowered through the well (the hole in L Deck) to the conveying assembly, it is subsequently conveyed forward into the launch tube and sealed within. The vertical impulse drive feed conduit Engineering Core runs up between the two launch tubes. Two independent Launch Bays allows the ship to retain torpedo capability even if one bay is destroyed (this was dramatically illustrated in the infamous battle between the original Enterprise and Reliant). Launch Bay A has Docking Port 4, while Launch Bay B has Docking Port 5.

If you wanted a screen accurate torpedo bay then of course 2 would not fit side by side. However, these deck plans also fit a full height Rec Deck into the undercut of the saucer so clear some TARDIS tech is in operation here!

His visualisations get better each video - I love how he can now stack the decks more realistically on top of each other.
Those inwards facing windows on the Defiant are still weird though. It's not even a sensible place to pretend that they are just sensors!

I still don't like how there is that "Inward Cavity" on the Ventral side of the main body.

That's SOOO much extra internal floor space that they could've had if they made it completely flat.

In my Head Canon for my 26th century, my updated Defiant is a bit "THICCer" in terms of Floor layout: 8 decks vs 5 decks.

It's like upgrading from Rey Mysterio to Brock Lesnar in "THICCness".
