News Star Trek Universe Panel confirmed for SDCC 2024

I'd say we're almost certainly going to get a premiere date for Lower Decks, probably Section 31 as well. We could get one for SNW, though I think they'll probably just leave it with a vague "Coming in 2025."

Still hoping they'll announce a September release for Section 31. If they still want a streaming film every two years, they'd be stupid not to put out Section 31 this September so that their next film will land on the 60th.

Given how they screwed up the 50th, I don’t have high hopes that they will land the 60th.

Predictions:
  • Section 31 gets a fairly brief teaser trailer and possibly a release window (but not a date)
  • Lower Decks gets a relatively in-depth trailer and a release date
  • Starfleet Academy hasn't even begun filming yet, so it's mostly just cryptic stuff but it fleshes out the cast descriptions some more
  • Strange New Worlds is largely a look back at the second season with some vague references to the third season and a tease of "something very exciting for longtime fans" happening in its early episodes
  • Kurtzman doubles down on saying he hopes to see streaming movies on a routine basis, says he's "certainly heard some ideas from the fanbase" for future productions, and "we're definitely taking everything we hear into consideration"
  • Kurtzman also says "there's plenty of exciting stuff on the way, and I can't wait to talk about it"
  • Someone asks about Star Trek: Legacy; Kurtzman says "all I can say is what I've already said, there's a lot in the works, these things take time"
  • Everyone praises Michelle Yeoh, whether she's relevant to a specific panel is immaterial (in fairness, she is pretty cool)

I think the most significant news we'll get concerning the Academy is more casting announcements, perhaps the rest of the main cast.

Star Trek Prodigy is also having its own panel and screening the next day. I find that encouraging for that show’s future.

There's also going to be a “Intergalactic Friendship Day” Panel hosted by Alex Kurtzman, and Doctor Who Showrunner Russel T. Davis

We'll maybe get concept art or perhaps a look at sets nearing completion. We've all heard about this Atrium they're building, I'm sure we'll get some kinda peek at it.
