Star Trek: The Original Series Set Tour to Open

Trekonderoga is still scheduled for next month. We will probably continue to have similar gatherings at least annually. But we will be open for tour business at non-Trekonderoga times, for tours and photo ops and such. Weddings? Bar Mitzvahs?

We will probably open our doors to other fan films who want to use our sets. I don't know if James is interested in doing short fan films himself in addition to, essentially, being a museum curator, now. I have some thoughts on putting together some short productions. I may create one of those fan film productions that uses these Star Trek; The Original Series Set Tour sets (formerly, the STNV/PII sets). "The *New* New Voyages?"
Thanks, Greg. I suppose I can ask James at Trekonderoga.

Anway, I wish you all well in your future endeavors, and I hope the set tours are a great success. I hope to visit myself.

On another note, is there any chance we can get official word on whether or not the final episodes (Bread and Savagery, Origins, and Torment of Destiny) will be released or not? I'm sure fans wouldn't mind if things like visual effects weren't finished if we could at least get a rough cut of the stories. It would be an awful shame if they never saw the light of day, especially for those who donated for their production.

(NOTE: New here, can anyone be kind enough to tell me how to edit a previous comment for spelling? Thanks)

Only James can answer regarding the status of our three in-process episodes. I don't know what his thinking is regarding them.

Also, you'll get the post edit function after you've been a member for a while and have a certain number of posts. Newbies don't have the function. Sorry.

I see and understand on both accounts, thank you for the reply.

I'm pretty damn excited about this, because frankly a lot of Trek pilgrimages involve travel far from my area, but Ticonderoga is a drive away.

Plus, this news is making members of a certain cult go kinda (more) bonkers.

With any luck, the license deal allows NV to finish out the films in production "grandfathered under the old rules" I'm sure any such deals, if they exist, are being kept private until the time is right to make them public, just like them springing this surprise on us all about set tours.

Now I wonder whether STC will wind down in a similar way. It would suck to have them strike the sets (including the new engine room) without really getting a lot of use out of them.

This has nothing to do with fan films. No fan film groups will be allowed to film here. And no secret deals have been made to keep on making fan films or to keep releasing them. This is about the the set tour as an attraction. Nothing more. I have no inside info on anything fan film related. .

I apologize if the questions could be construed as distracting from the announcement of the tours, I only took the opportunity to ask after you mentioned that you were done with fan films, leaving the question of unreleased New Voyages projects dangling. Again, your sets and attention to detail have always been amazing, and the tours are sure to do well for you :)

Are the tours something that will be ongoing for the forseeable future? Are they a one-off for several months to celebrate the 50th anniversary? I ask because I'd love to take the tour, and folding that in to a trip to Fort Ticonderoga and Lake George seems like it'd make a fun weekend, but I wouldn't want to plan that for fall only to find out this was, for example, a limited-time summer-only thing.

This is really cool, and a nice way to continue using the sets. It's pretty impressive that you guys actually got a license from CBS to do this.
I would love to come do the set tour, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to make it to that side of the country.

Nice of Vic to give his congrats (with a link to the press release on the STC FB page (the one that doesn't have "official" in the name of the page)):
"James Cawley's sets have always been exceptional recreations of the originals, and it's great that fans will have the chance to tour them. Congrats to all!"

Wow, this is unexpected but really neat news. As somebody who's never been all that interested in fan films, this is a far more exciting use of these sets. Licensed set tours? Awesome!

This is not a New Voyages license. New Voyages no longer exists as I quit making fan films months ago. This is a license with my company and a way to share the magic of Trek with all fellow fans!
Congratulations! This is very cool, and I definitely want to make the "trek" to Ticonderoga!

According to Alex McDonald in the comment thread on the CBS/P v Ax FB group on this:
" I think the plan is mem day-labor day, and.pre/post holiday by appointment, As the weather turns nasty by mid Oct."
And that it is to be an annual thing and not just a one-off for the 50th.
