Star Trek: RPG-X is a total conversion of Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force, developed by UberGames and released in 2004. RPG-X is designed to change the experience from a frantic twitch shooter into an interactive, class-based roleplaying sandbox. It has since become its own standalone game, published by The Last Outpost with permission from CBS and Raven Software.
RPG-X has evolved substantially over the years, making huge strides in improving the game engine and adding new features. While visually dated, it offers a way to get immersed in the Star Trek universe to such an extent that few other games can compare.

RPG-X inspired many content creators over the years, racking up an impressive number of fully interactive, show-accurate maps for you to get lost in. There's even new content being developed for it to this day. Nearly every console you see has some sort of function, like engaging the warp drive, firing phasers, and putting the ship on red alert. Poke around the bulkheads, too! You might find one that opens up to something neat!
Beyond the functions maps offer, the game offers a flexible suite of administration controls that allow you to spontaneously spawn battle damage wherever you want, play sounds and music as you see fit, and flash in and out of existence like a natural-born Q.

There are still several dedicated and active RPG-X communities around, like The Last Outpost and Earth's Elite. Many of them run their own series with their own take on the Star Trek universe. One such series, Star Trek: Asteroid Field, just celebrated its seventh year!
Of course, in order to get involved, you'd have to actually download the game. Why not take a peek for yourself? I'll be around to answer any questions you may have about the game.
