Star Trek: RPG-X is a total conversion of Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force, developed by UberGames and released in 2004. RPG-X is designed to change the experience from a frantic twitch shooter into an interactive, class-based roleplaying sandbox. It has since become its own standalone game, published by The Last Outpost with permission from CBS and Raven Software.

RPG-X has evolved substantially over the years, making huge strides in improving the game engine and adding new features. While visually dated, it offers a way to get immersed in the Star Trek universe to such an extent that few other games can compare.

RPG-X inspired many content creators over the years, racking up an impressive number of fully interactive, show-accurate maps for you to get lost in. There's even new content being developed for it to this day. Nearly every console you see has some sort of function, like engaging the warp drive, firing phasers, and putting the ship on red alert. Poke around the bulkheads, too! You might find one that opens up to something neat!

Beyond the functions maps offer, the game offers a flexible suite of administration controls that allow you to spontaneously spawn battle damage wherever you want, play sounds and music as you see fit, and flash in and out of existence like a natural-born Q.

There are still several dedicated and active RPG-X communities around, like The Last Outpost and Earth's Elite. Many of them run their own series with their own take on the Star Trek universe. One such series, Star Trek: Asteroid Field, just celebrated its seventh year!

Of course, in order to get involved, you'd have to actually download the game. Why not take a peek for yourself? I'll be around to answer any questions you may have about the game.

God, I remember playing this pack in 2005 for ST-RP. I was so proud of Will when he made the very first Poseidon too. I might just well try playing again!

It's nice to see some familiar faces lurking around! I've been the primary force behind the development of the standalone RPG-X client since earlier this year, and we've made some pretty big strides in improving quality of life for both new players and veterans alike.

  • The Ultimate Edition package contains virtually every map, model, rank set, and music pack ever released. It's big (~4 GB), but you'll never have to chase files again!
  • Players no longer have to hit Tab to refresh player data whenever someone changes their character model.
  • Players' bodies are visible from the first-person view, allowing better perspective when using emotes relative to other players.
  • Classic maps like Enterprise-E-V2, USS_Salem_A_V2, and several single-player campaign maps have been overhauled with Lua scripting to bring their features up to date.
  • We've eliminated almost all shader conflicts that caused missing texture errors on various maps, allowing the best balance between quality and quantity of content.

This is really cool looking. I've not heard of this mod conversion before. I'll try and check it out over the xmas break. I presume it will play ok on windows 7 64bit?

Absolutely! RPG-X supports Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, and OS X 10.10 "Yosemite" via Crossover.

I'd suggest taking a look into Star Trek: Asteroid Field. They're having an anniversary special on December 13th at 3:30 PM EST, and it's some very quality storytelling.
