Ok... Over on the left you have:

Your name
Ship name
Officer #1
Officer #2
Officer #3
Officer #4

You need an empty space for your next officer to be able to have 5.

.....

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. You need a spot on that list that says it has room for a new officer.

how many crew you've got on your ship?

My current ship is Sovereign Class Assault Cruiser, I thought they come with extra crew, do i need to do something to get this extra crew member.

Let me try to help out here. Your ship has 5 Slots for Bridge officers, but your Character Tristan only has 4 slots available for bridge officers.

Take a look at the Screenshot here:

2iafnrq.jpg

Under your characters name on the far left is that name of your character, the name of your ship, then the 4 officers. If you had slots for more officers, under the 4 you already have there'd be more spaces.

You get more slots for Bridge Officers 2 ways, either by ranking up Lieutenant to Lieutenant Commander for example, or by buying extra Bridge Officer Slots in the Cryptic Store.

Hope this helps clear things up.

EDIT: Looking at your screenshot again, it is strange that as a Read Admiral, Upper Half that more slots haven't unlocked. It might be a bug. I usually augment my Bridge Officer Slots by buying them from the Cryptic Store. (I just like having more People to choose from on Away Missions) So I don't know the exact number you're supposed to have by that point.

At Rear Admiral I think you should have room for 9 officers. Way more then Bridge Consoles. File a bug report. This is not normal.

Edit: On another matter. If I read that right you fly a Souvereign? Dont use exclusively Dual beam banks. You turn rate is not high enough to bring them to bear effectively. Arrays have a wider firing arc. They allow you to broadside with fore and aft arrays at the same time so your damage will be ultimately higher.
And on a related note, your top tac officer is trained for cannon rapid fire... You don't have cannons. I recommend retraining the officer and pick Beam overload or Fire at Will. You should train both your tactical officers one of tjose skills, so you can swap them when appropriate.

^^

I see that, but why is it that i have empty slot there on hud, but not on side?
Look at your screenshot (and thanks for resizing this one!).

In the leftmost part of the "Assignment" window there is the list of available officers. As there are no empty slots there, you cannot add more officers to your ship.

The empty slots you are talking about, both in the "Ship stations" and "Standard away team" are empty (or filled with "security" generic officers) because you haven't assigned any officer from the leftmost officer list.

In the ship stations, as you lack one more engineering officer, it's impossible for you to fill that console.

Yeah, at RA you should have way more officers than places to put them on. This sounds like a bug and you should send a ticket.

I agree with TLV on the subject of DBBs. On a Sovvie, you may want to use beam arrays, and have your officers specced in beam-related skills. Similarly, make sure you have specced in beam weapons and not cannons, else you won't be getting the most out of your weapons. Besides, beam firing arcs overlap at the sides, allowing you to fire both fore and aft arrays at the same target when you are sideways. Watch out for power consumption, though, or you might end shooting "energy peas" to the enemy for lack of power.

Oh, and you WANT desperately at least one engineering officer in the away team. Why do you still keep two security officers in there at RA??

One more thing I noticed.
You only have 3 new officer candidates.
What have you done with all the rest. The candidate list should be maxed out if you only have 4 officers assigned to your ship.
Did you sell them on the exchange?

Am I able to send weapons in the mail? I can't find anything saying i can't but when I try the items don't attach to the message.

-Turns out they are 'Bound' Items so cant be sent via mail.
In addition to the info that others have posted, you can hand down *bound* items to that character's Bridge Officers.

Hi ya guys, thax for you comments, actually just got my sovereign class, before that i had defiant which i loved, I game had so many bugs (my away team got permanently stuck in one place for example) that in my frustration i sacked them all, game has loads of bugs, it makes game play very difficult sometimes ( + away team was fully of cowards I'd had to do all the fighting and getting killed all the time)

On a side note, my officer candidate list got short as i've deleted most of the candidates, i had over 30 officer candidates, most rare or very rare, but I am doing same missions anyways so I'll get more them (i one day i could get as many as 7-8 new office candidates)

i am currently in an fleet that is unhelpful and not really in mood of giving good advice, I'd leave them but thus far didn't see the priority as' I've done all my game-play on my own (big lonely universe out there) although I was promoted with in the fleet for some strange reason (perhaps for just being there long enough) :D

So if you guys are looking tristan@mic_of_orion, I am willing, but i have loads of questions and I am eager to do missions too.
Oh and officers training thanx fr that I'll need to get some officer skills than, fast.

Mic of Orion,

I'll look for you in the game; however, I'm currently assisting an old friend get built up. We used to play Star Trek Tactical Combat Simulator, if your memory goes back to pre-computer games.

I'm in Central European Time zone so it's difficult to find English speaking players on the same times as me. A lot of my missions are solo. However, my characters are in a couple of decent fleets and occassionally I get to interact with them. I'll send you fleet info via an ingame message.

Thanks,
Steven

Actually, Mic, no. You won't ever get any top quality officers again after reaching max rank. Most of the officers you get are level rewards, not mission rewards. The few officers you get for missions, there might be 2-3 total, are not as good. Looks like you have to rely on the exchange to get your roster full again.

i'll stick to the defiant than, i had frustrations with sov class from a get go. Its slow and cumbersome, totally opposite to what it is in real star trek, cryptic has simply ruined this game with their constant interference and not sticking to the canon, inventing future as they go, I am surprised Paramount gave the license for this game tbh. I guess money talks...

Game has loads of issues to be resolved and tbh I m just annoyed due to some of these glitches i've lot my cool and deleted my bridge crew which wasn't that bad other than being useless as away team.

Honestly, it sounds like your account has a data corruption issue; that and you may have kept using your White and Green quality bridge crew instead of upgrading to Blues and Purples, hard to be sure from what you've said.

Ah, I see. You kept the better ones.
Still doesn't explain why you don't have enough slots for more.
Otherwise you probably wouldn't have deleted them I guess.
So, open a ticket/bug report and ask them to look into the issue. Maybe you can get them to even return your deleted officers if you explain to them, that you had to do so to assign the newer ones because of the issue.

And if the Defiant suits your playstyle better you will get a one time chance to get the retrofit version for free when you hit max level.
The Souvereign is a good ship, but it is a very heavy cruiser, meant for tanking and taking damage through a big hull bonus, lots of healing and resistance abilities with moderate damage output.
If you play it like that you can take on several enemys at once, something no one will recommend to do with the Defiant.
And you will love the Souvereign or other heavy cruisers as a support/heal ship. Let them take the heavy fire and let yourself be healed by them while you shred the others to pieces.

^^

I see that, but why is it that i have empty slot there on hud, but not on side?

Just because you haven't assigned an Officer to a Bridge station, you have the full amount of BOs that your ship can hold at your character's level, on your ship's BO list at the far far left. You'd need to right click on one and dissmiss him/her/it to free a BO slot, or level up to a higher rank, or buy some more ship BO slots.

No, it seems there is a bug for him. He is a rear admiral upper half already but only has 4 BO slots available which is not how it should be.
