Star Trek: Nemesis - As Never Seen Before (Update)

Yes. Which is why I said that the alternate version fits, to which he then replied:

"I meant I'd like to avoid using any of those two versions, so there wouldn´t be a mind rape."

I think he means that the alternate scene fits better with his edit.
Yeah, but I was also talking about removing the Alternate version as well, so there´s no mind rape at all. But as a good part of this edit intention is to get the deleted scenes into the movie, maybe keeping the mind rape with the Alternate version is the best choice. I´m not against the concept itself of this mind rape scenes, but I just think they aren´t very good. Ofc the Alternate one is better but I trimmed it a lot so the dumb Shinzon´s dialogue was reduced to the minimum.

Ah, I see.

Can I ask why?

If it's an aversion to seeing it actually happen, could you simply have it happen offscreen? Everything we need to know for the plot happens in the scene when Deanna explains the attack to Beverly anyway.

If you don't like the entire concept and want it gone, that sounds like a very difficult extraction. :D
I´ll keep it but it´s not one of the new scenes that I think add something special or an increase in quality for the movie. Anyway, we get rid of the bed/sexual mind rape scene which was truly awful in my opinion.

Wasn´t planning on sharing this, but here´s some updates and actual results of the upgrading work on the Deleted Scenes for the Extended Cut.
Source quality is even worse than the scenes used in the SV. As I said before, Chateau or Alternate Ending were quite decent after all, but these are crap hahah. However, here are some examples of what I´m doing:

Sickbay Preparing for Battle Source/New Versions - https://imgsli.com/MzI3NDQ1

Ten Forward scene with B-4: This one came with the typical low resolution, wrong Aspect Ratio, complex interlacing, spots, great noise issues that were present in the SV scenes, but this time adding flickering artifacts (lightning changes between consecutive frames which create a sense of vibration on the video), extremely distorted edges, watermarked credits and out of focus characters which are always a big issue for Topaz. Here you can see two consecutive frames of the source video (Deinterlaced):

Ten Forward scene with B-4 Source (Deinterlaced) - https://imgsli.com/MzI3NDQ4

You can see how there´s a sudden change in colors/lightning. There is also one spot/dirt right of Worf´s as you can see here:

So I de-flickered, removed dirt and denoised a bit in Davinci Resolve to get a file suitable for a good Topaz treatment. And this was the result (same frames as the other comparison):

Then I removed the distorted edges in Topaz and did a 2nd wave of upscaling to improve details. Here´s a comparison between the source and the upgraded test version:

So the Extended Cut could be a real thing, but there´s a lot of work to do. Green screen removal, music for each scene, transitions, improving the other scenes finding the best models and settings in Davinci, Topaz... So this wouldn´t be out for a while.

Cheers

Hi. Here is some update with the Extended Cut.
I´ve been working on the remaining deleted scenes and using a new method for improving them that will be also partially applied to the scenes which were already included in the SV. About 40% of the Extended Cut scenes enhancing work has ben completed. Regarding the editing work itself, I came with a big question: Should the "Shinzon Plans" scene be included? (Assuming I could get a decent quality version of that one.) This is the scene:

It explains why the Romulan fleet wasn´t participating in Shinzon´s attack on Earth and some of Shinzon´s motivations but as Stuart Baird said, it was removed for obvious reasons as they wanted to have that cinematic Shinzon reveal, and also not showing his real intentions until he kidnaps Picard. But it´s a good scene, and the goal of the EC is to include all the deleted scenes. Could this one make it in the form of a flashback after they meet Shinzon? Plz tell me if you have any suggestions.

https://imgsli.com/MzM3NDYy/0/2 3 way comparison between "Sickbay Preparing for Battle" Source, Upgraded v1 and Newly Upgraded v2 versions. Last version has improved detail on faces and slightly in objects and edges. I blended both v1 and New AI Upscaled Version changing the percentages between different parts of the scene and then rendered at 720p to re-upscale with added grain at Topaz and finally removing Temporal Noise and some Banding from it.

Update: Main video restoration work is finished on "Sickbay Preparing for Battle" and "Crusher Joins Starfleet Medical" scenes. Still have to remove the watermarked credits on the latter. I´m currently finishing audio/video restoration on the "Ten Forward scene with B-4" scene while also doing some progress with Wesley Crusher scene. Chris AKA Hardwire already finished the first of the new Extended Cut musical themes for the "Ten Forward scene with B-4" scene and it´s awesome, in a similar mood to the "Your Brother" part of this one:

I think so. I'd like to see a version with all scenes.
There are two new scenes which are not exactly new scenes but rather cut dialogue parts within actual scenes. One during Shinzon presentation scene and another one when Crusher and Picard are discussing Shinzon. Do you think it would be worth to include those two bits of dialogue?

Star Trek Nemesis: The Last Rendezvous Extended Cut continues its progress and I´ve been using a new workflow for the scenes upgrading thanks to software that uses the chinese facial reconstruction algorithms (HitPaw/GFPGAN) which I´m using in a subtle way over the Topaz upscales together with a lot of rotoscoping. The results are quite noticeable, fixing some issues from the version avaliable in the Standard Version.

Whoever that lady is, she looks quite a lot like Deanna Troi. Not 100%, but very close. ;)

The upgraded versions are basically 90% of the source video, so it´s definitely Deanna Troi. Of course the source quality doesn´t leave too much space for the upscaling software to recreate detail but it keeps or improves the details from the source while cleaning the overall image.

Were you able to preserve the Dolby Vision and HDR10 metadata from the 4K Blu-ray?
Hi. I didn't use the 4K Blu-ray as source. I did use the remastered 1080p Blu-ray instead. It should be possible to preserve the metadata for a 4K HDR /Dolby vision version but not sure what would happen with the additional scenes.

Don't get me wrong, you're getting a lot out of a little. But as is still usual the A.I. is guessing, which is why her teeth are different and her eyes aren't black.
