A little project history. And an update.
Back in 2003, Star Trek fanfilms were few and far between. Hidden Frontier and Starship Exeter were pretty much the prime movers, and the resources available to those who wanted to make their own films were very limited, unless you had professional contacts and plenty of money to spend.
We started Intrepid, largely inspired by the efforts of Exeter and Hidden Frontier, with very limited resources and, frankly, barely a clue what we were doing. Over the years we've grown in experience and have gained access to an array of tools that we could only dream about 12 years ago. But the real life commitments of the last few years have mostly prevented us from making the most of what we've gained.
With that in mind, our current focus is to finish up the existing project we started some time ago (Dissonant Minds, which is mostly 'in the can') and proceed to work on two or three new short fanfilms; Transposition, The Story, and likely one other (as yet untitled).
While Dissonant Minds will not entirely reflect new equipment and lessons learned, since much of it was shot some time ago, the shorts we are working on will hopefully show a rapid progression in skill and production quality, and we hope to release those shorts before too many months have passed.
So what then? Well next year is the Fiftieth Anniversary of Star Trek, and I don't think any of us is likely to let that go without trying to produce something. At present, I am working on an episode length script that I hope to produce next year, but how soon that happens will depend on how well we proceed over the next few months, and how easily we can elevate our skills to the next level.
We may not be the fastest, we may not be the most polished, and we're certainly not the best. But we are dedicated to bringing you fun, entertaining stories set in the Star Trek universe. So we hope you'll bear with us over the following months.
Thank you.
