Star Trek Cheaters!

So, I'm watching the TV show "Cheaters" right now, and I just have to comment about what I just saw.

In case you didn't know, in this show people who think that their significant other in being unfaithful contact the cheaters team who then have private eyes follow the suspected cheat around and place hidden cameras in their places of residence.

When the concerned party is shown the video evidence of their partner's infidelity this leads to excessive crying by females and rage by males, culminating in the inevitable cat fight/fist fight.

Now, in the episode I just saw, the girl is cheating on her boyfriend and the team and boyfriend go to confront her and her lover at their current location, a star trek convention!

But the best part is that he is a trek geek dressed in a nuTrek command gold and she is dressed as Gaila in green body paint and hair dyed red! :guffaw: :guffaw:

Oh, and when Joey Greco, the show's host, gets the phone call from the PI telling the team where the paramours are located, he says, "Dressed like an Orion slave girl?!" :guffaw:

And of course the fight between the guys ensues and the boyfriend is calling the lover a fucking geek and a fucking nerd.

Oh, and the whole time Joey Greco is saying, "Isn't this illogical?" to the girl and described the situation as "warped." :guffaw:

Star Trek nerds: stealing normal guys' girlfriends since 1965.

Girls can't resist Trek nerds! :mallory:

Anyway, I just though this was hilarious because this is the first time I've seen Star Trek being a cause of infidelity on this show.

Oh, the most fucked up part was when the boyfriend, after fighting the trek geek and telling both of them off, proposes to his cheating girlfriend on the spot. :borg:

If that's the thing I'm thinkin' of, it was filmed at a scifi con in Dallas last year. I read about it on the con's message board, and the general consensus from folks who saw what was goin' on as they filmed was that the whole thing was staged.

Please don't ruin the fantasy. Next you'll tell us that Captain Kirk isn't real. :(

often these "Reality Shows" are staged..heck, they even have actors on court shows these days..

I'm waiting for the "Reality Show" awards for best actor/actress and writer/producer...

Yeah, I've long suspected that cheaters is a staged show. Hell, I just watched a youtube clip where several people who appeared in episodes claimed it was all staged and they were payed.

Nonetheless, I think it is still hilarious that (if indeed scripted) they chose to go with a Trek theme with the lovers dressed up as nuKirk and Gaila.

Anyway, this show is great entertainment for half an hour, even if it's all faked. :techman:

Well, if it is staged...typically they stage these situations based on a high improbability that they would happen in real life - they want it outrageous in order to boost ratings. So sadly, the message appears to be "No fucking WAY could a Trek Nerd swipe this guy's girlfriend. So yeah...let's do that to be really outrageous!"

Now, most of us Trek Nerd girls know that most Trek Nerd guys are perfectly normal, and have a firm grasp on the difference between fantasy and reality. But a cheap thrills show like that? It actually doesn't surprise me that they would stage a Trek Nerd stealing some guy's girlfriend.

So when the two guys fought, who won?

I've done it before. I am not proud of myself.

Although, in regards to infidelity in general: I wish more polyamorous people would be honest with themselves and others. It's difficult, but nothing worth doing is easy.
