*Spoiler* Was Todd the best character on Atlantis?

ReadyAndWilling

Fleet Captain
Maybe not the best character, but for me, certainly the best alien.

He had a perfect introduction with 'Common Ground'. I remember watching the episode and thinking he was going to be killed off by a Genii or he would betray Sheppard and be killed by him. That scene after he feeds on the humans and then turns into Ivan Drago was epic.

Then, he not only returns, but is given several key roles throughout the show's run. Unlike most other characters who just appear once and are never seen again.

Even though I haven't seen the last few episodes of the show I can't think of any character that was given such a great storyline.

I think they did a great job with him and through him, we were able to learn more about the Wraith and their culture/technology.

He was a cool character and the actor certainly did a fine job. Unfortuantely, the constant switching back and forth between ally and enemy got tiresome. But he did have some memorable moments and was usually enjoyable to watch.

Also, interestingly enough, the best Todd moment was actually from an alternate timeline. In The Last Man when him and Ronon fight to their deaths to take out Michael's facility.

I think of Todd as the SG-A equivalent of Ba'al, though his personality was a lot different. He was never quite an ally, but not quite an enemy either. He makes me think of a quote from some other movie: "Just because I'm trying to kill you doesn't mean I don't love and respect you." He could never be 'friends' with the Atlantis expedition, but he didn't hate them either and respected them for their strengths.
He was also hilarious, like when he 'threatened' to feed on McKay if McKay didn't finish the Replicator coding soon enough or offered to shake hands with Carter.

Todd grew on me. And I wound up liking him a great deal. The way he kept switching back and forth was part of the charm of the character for me. He was one of the best things about Atlantis.

Ba'al was a bit different. He was clearly SG-1's enemy, though I think he thought of himself as their ally. I'm referring to season 9 and 10, of course.

I love the character, except sometimes when he talks it sounds like he's trying to use the washroom.

I think I agree with this, though I did enjoy his other appearances.

Todd was great, but lets face it the PTB's screwed up the Wraith from the beginning. Imagine if they had made the Wraith as seductive as the vampires they were based upon. An entire universe both in fear and awe of them - "We know you want to kill us, but... okay, just a quick little suck".

I think the only other alien character that came close to having as good an arc was the Genii second in command that staged a coup. Although I completly forgot who the hell he was between episodes; not the actors fault though. Love him on Sanctuary.

I know, but he was an enemy they teamed up with on occasion. That's the comparison I was making, but their circumstances and personality were a lot different.
