The queen of all hybrids.Musta missed it. I thought they were a human colony that defied augmentation regulations.
Okay. She’s an alien. I still want a bumpy!

Not really. Most TOS alien races looked entirely human, and some of Trek's best stories were built around them.I mean… alien is as alien does. If Una is considered human, looks human, and has no distinctive cultural differences, then she is no more an “alien” to the casual viewer than Julian Bashir was.
I think by “alien” we are all thinking of someone who is non-human in origin, and ideally, looks the part.
The next version of that should have Trill spots too.Musta missed it. I thought they were a human colony that defied augmentation regulations.

Well, Spock's going through some stuff, but yeah, Saru on Discovery is a perfect example of the diversity of the universe represented in Starfleet. I would welcome someone like that. And would gladly forgo the inclusion of any other "legacy" character for a couple of years.(Btw said alien should also be alien in performance, not just visual. Ethan Spock acts waaaay too human for me).
Remember when people were complaining that there were too many women on the show now?
The next version will look like baby Clint Howard! The next version of that should have Trill spots too.
Well, now there are too many women and not enough aliens dammit.A little. It's remarkable how relatively less often that's been noticed, compared to things that happened just a few years ago.
Waiting for Australia, Germany, Netherlands, Peninsular Spain, Lusofone countries, New Zealand, India, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Southern Africa, Sri Lanka, and so many more, to be represented in Trek pretty much at all. (And don[t give me the the guy that sat at the desk for 40 years waiting for someone to hang the flag up with him).
Funny thing is: The "traditional" Trek full make-up alien crewmember is always male. Spock Worf Data Odo Quark Neelix Phlox Saru Hemmer.
The woman aliens are always "sexy human-like". I think B'Elanna Torres was the closest we ever got to a full face mask. And even she is a lot smoother than, say, Worf.
I think B'Elanna Torres was the closest we ever got to a full face mask.
I do think it should be possible to get a recurring Tellarite...
For Example, have an Andorian man the Engineering station, show them ocasionally, even have them talk...
Lower Decks has aot more species represented. Earth aquatics. K'Zinti. Orion, Andorian, Caitian, and many more obscure races, be they from the Animated Series, or one of species from about any of the Alpha or Beta Quadrant based shows.
Australia got a Romulan in Picard (or at least his accent), the ship that Scotty crashed in, Riker's ship that got busted up by the Borg, Khan's goons frozen dinner mobile, and some mentions in Enterprise. That's kinda cool! Ok it isn't, but it's cooler than New Zealand, how that got turned into a penal colony, although they would have got representation in Star Trek: The Beginning with the Maori Ensign Ogg.Waiting for Australia, Germany, Netherlands, Peninsular Spain, Lusofone countries, New Zealand, India, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Southern Africa, Sri Lanka, and so many more, to be represented in Trek pretty much at all.
