SiAP: Prodigy in top 10 for Netflix Kid shows

It's #1 in Germany.

It's too soon for any assumptions. But I'm starting to think that third season I wasn't counting on could happen after all!

I’m watching it again. I’m imagining Rok-Tahk’s dialogue when Dal ran into her the first time. “Hey!”

Just finished episode 4. That planet monster sucked.

Show is good, but SNW eeks it out for rewatch value.

But *only* because SNW is largely standalone episodes. Prodigy has a heavy season long story arc so is hard to watch without knowing a load of lore about the Vau N’Akat and timey wimey stuff etc.

My only complaint about Prodigy is that the show should have been more based on standalone stories like SNW so that episodes could be more easily watched out of order and be more appreciated by a casual audience who just want to dip in and out of the show without any complications. Easy episodic viewing, everything resolved in a nutshell like in the good old days of TNG.

I appreciate exactly the serialised nature of Prodigy, which means that the stakes feel real and the characters really come to life. In some ways, this is superior to the reset button nature of episodic shows. And Prodigy is an example of good serialisation, because it has an arc planned over 10, 20 or even 40 (albeit in very rough form) episodes and because it keeps the same showrunners with the same vision that doesn't change midstream.

In contrast, Discovery and Picard seem to change style and/or story every season or worse, during some seasons. For Picard especially, watching from season 1 to the season 3 shows jarring style changes and plots and characters that get dumped after at most a season, sometimes less than that.

SNW is good because the characters are good. If it was more serialised, Prodigy style or even Lower Decks style (though it is somewhat comparable to the latter), it could be even better.

Maybe. But SNW's episodic nature was actually established at the request of msny fans, who appreciated that aspect of Old Trek. It's a classic example of the showrunners actually giving the audience what they wanted.
