Sales of trek books?

^ Not to mention, of course, that sales might indicate popularity, but don't speak at all to quality. Not to name titles, but certain books could sell like celebrity panties on e-bay, and it still wouldn't change my opinion that said books suck mastodont dick. Sales data would just be a curiousity, and perhaps a prognostication tool.

As a fan, I would use sales information as a predictor of which books or series may continue with sequels and which ones may not get further attention from the publisher. So far, I have not heard a reason why releasing the data would be detrimental to the book market while the movie and video game industries are just fine with putting it out on public display.

Well, there are alot more people involved in the making games and movies than books, so I guess the sales numbers for books could be considered more personal information. But that's not to say that I wouldn't be like to know these numbers, because I would.
