Ranking the films through science!

Didn't use the app, but here's mine:

  • The Empire Strikes Back
  • The Last Jedi
  • A New Hope
  • The Force Awakens
  • Return of the Jedi
  • Revenge of the Sith
  • The Phantom Menace
  • Attack of the Clones
Not sure where I stand on Solo and Rogue One, to me they're kind of their own thing and I'd have a difficult time ranking them alongside the main trilogies.

Man, Attack of the Clones is taking a beating here. Outside of my list, the highest it's able to manage is 7th. What can I say? I love how the end just keeps piling on one action beat after another, from the droid factory to the arena beasts to a crapload of Jedi fighting battle droids to Yoda showing up with the clone army to the final series of lightsaber duels where Obi-wan, Anakin, and Yoda each take on Count Dooku and barely escape with their lives.
There's nothing wrong with liking something that others don't. I do it all the time ;)

For me AOTC was the first Star Wars movie that bored me in the theater. Yes, there was plenty of action, but I wasn't invested enough in the characters to care. The writing was so dull and the characters were so lifeless that b y the time we go to Geonosis, I was looking at my watch. This was when I really started appreciating Lawrence Kasden even more because his influence was clearly missing from these films. With the OT, I cared about the characters and felt genuine danger. With AOTC, it never felt like they were in any real danger because everything was so effortless. Plus the CGI backgrounds kept pulling me out of the movie, None of it looked as real as the big land battle on hoth.
