Q vs Organians

We know so little of the Organians, but what ever they did seemed to effect a large area of space. That kind of power puts them on the level of a Q I guess. What do some of you think? Who was more power..the Q or the Organians?

I agree with scotthm. The Q fight amongst themselves too much to be truly powerful. Dangerous, absolutely, but lacking the ability to work together to create meaningful change.

Yeah I agree. I would have gone with the Q, but after Voyager got through with them, they were about as intimidating as the Borg.

I think Q is more powerful, or the Orgs are almost on the same level as the Q. Just because Q lacks self control (although we don't know if that goes for them as a whole) doesn't mean they are less powerful.

I wonder why we never saw or heard from them again... Has any Trek literature ever bothered to explore them? I'd like to know more of them...

I think the Q & The Organians grudgingly respect each other as they know that there are forces far more aggressive / stronger than both of them & they need each other to stay in the business of keeping order.

The Organians either haven't mastered the ability to blink in & out of a variety of planes of existence at random, like The Q, or choose not to. The "Observer Effect" ENT episode specifically mentions that the Organians do have a "Non-Interference" directive, just as The Traveller's people do.

In the "A Time To..." series of TNG novels I've read, Picard's balls are in a vice over the Rashanar situation, Wesley is being recruited into the Fellowship Of The Traveller & they've specifically ordered Wesley not to abuse his "Gift" to interfere in a vision he sees of the Enterprise-E's impending destruction.

Can’t know exactly, but I think the Q were shown exerting more power. The Organians were shown simply studying humanoid behavior, and have still, as far as we know, limited themselves to a small area of the galaxy, maybe even a single solar system. The Q are galaxy spanning individuals outside their continuum capable of anything imaginable.

The early Star Trek novel Trek to Madworld had a renegade Organian toying with the
Enterprise as well as Romulan and Klingon ships. Very Q-like.

The Organians seem like grown-up Q. Between ENT and TOS, they get past their "let's study and torment the mere mortals just because we can" stage, and happily retire on their planet of preference.

The lack of references to them after "Errand of Mercy" is pretty easy to understand when that episode paints them as extreme recluses. Why, they even reached out and stopped an interstellar war for the sole purpose of getting some peace and quiet for themselves...

Weren't the Organians evolved from humanoids and the Q 'always' omnipotent? Would that make the Q superior?

If the Organians hadn't evolved, it would. ;) Though I don't remember the reference to their being in an unevolved state, they don't behave in Observer Effect as if they had been evolved for untold eons. Of course, it could have been that the humanoids they observed were relatively new on the seen, but it suggests that they hadn't been around long enough to see countless corporeal type civilizations come and go. Merely hundreds.

In the Q Continuum Trilogy novels, Q observes the Organians with Picard and dismisses them as being a couple of plans of existence beneath the Q.

Various of the Q blather about omnipotence, but it's obviously hyperbole, considering that we've seen them fail to accomplish their desires at times. All we know for certain is that they're more flagrant with their displays of power and more concerned with making it seem effortless than are the Organians.

I wonder if they are more a kin to the Guardians of the Universe (Green Lanterns). And better yet? Do they have counterparts in other universes?

Q vs Organians=End of Universe:klingon:

In the Errand of Mercy one of the Organians says something like, "We were once like you..." so they evolved. Q is. Which might explain his childish attitudes-he never HAD to evolve. But I am also thinking I read something about the Organians being lesser than Q.

During 'The Q and the Grey', Q States "the Q have always existed". However in the episode we are introduced to the Organians, Spock says "They have not advanced technologically in almost ten thousand years", Inferring they had once advanced; had once had room to progress. So seeing as how the Q would have had longer to master omnipotence, I'd place my bet on them.
