NFL Football 2009

I think Kansas City was in the running for 2013 or so, contingent on two funding votes to improve Arrowhead stadium, with the second vote to fund a retractable roof. When the second vote failed, KC pulled their bid.

The Super Bowl isn't about football fans, it's about corporate dollars and sponsorships. The cocaine and boob job crowd doesn't want to sit outside in the snow or cold.

However, you'll also note how it the Bowl is either in nice locations or indoors. I couldn't find whether or not this is by design or just how the votes tend to fall, but I wish that they had the big game in a wider variety of locations. A snowy Super Bowl would be fun.

There are two considerations at play, here, and both are in the area of logistics. The NFL can't afford to have a Super Bowl scheduled in Chicago, and then have fifteen inches of snow fall the day before the game and completely fuck air travel for teams, fans and media, for example.

You also have to consider the surrounding area of the game. Green Bay, Wisconsin, for example, simply doesn't have the infrastructure to support a massive event like the Super Bowl. There isn't enough parking, lodging or transit capacity in the city and its suburbs to support the influx of 150,000 people (which is the estimated impact for this year's Super Bowl in Miami). Heck, Lambeau Field isn't even in Green Bay. It's in Ashwaubenon, which comprises a mall, a Country Kitchen, a Perkins, an Outback Steakhouse, some auto dealers and the stadium.

Well that isn't the only thing the League considers, fan comfort I mean. The league doesn't want it's biggest game influenced by something as random as the weather.

Three years ago, I almost got the score of Super Bowl XLI exactly right. Missed it by a mere two points. I'd said Colts 27, Bears 17, but the Colts actually scored 29 points. I even predicted that one of the Chicago Bears' two touchdowns would come on a kick return by Devon Hester.... I just didn't know it would be the OPENING KICKOFF!!

This year, I think I'll go with the five-point spread and say:

COLTS 34, SAINTS 29

That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it. See you guys after the game. :)

I actually remember that thread. After the game, someone quoted your prediction, and asked "Are you from the future?"

Y'know, I feel bad about Katrina but I'm getting really tired of the whole wankfest with the Saints here. According to CBS, they refer to Drew Brees as Breesus down there.

That's been his nickname for quite some time.

Good lord. The Who are definitely way past their prime.

Who are they getting for next year? ZZ Top? Bob Seger? Styx?

Anyone else think the halftime show for 2010 totally sucked, the vocals where just plan crap... did they even rehearse?

Stage was nice, good choice of songs, but they MURDERED their own songs!!!

I guess the "Bridgestone" tire company wanted to run over and over the halftime show

Good for the Saints though. Their first time not only to the superbowl, but winning it. Especially after what New Orleans has been through in recent years.
