NFL Discussion - 2008-09 Playoffs

I wish the assholes running the stadium would have shut the fucking music off. McGahee easily could have been lying dead, while the stands are blaring with CCR...

:wtf:

At least he was conscious and moving when he was carted off.

Oh yes, and GO STEEEEEELERS!

I don't know the first thing about running a facility like that, but keeping the music running was probably a good decision. It wasn't a matter of a lack of compassion or respect. Think about it. The music helps to keep the crowd a bit more distracted maybe even a bit more relaxed. They can't do anything for the injured player, so the music makes the time pass more smoothly for them. Those who do want to pray for the unjured player castill do so.

Could they have picked something more mellow though, perhaps more generic, considering that someone on the field may be dead?

Earl Morrell started for the 1968 Colts and for the Dolphins undefeated team. Rutledge, as far as I recall, never started a Super Bowl.

I thought Bob Griese started for Miami in that Super Bowl, not Morrall??

You're both right. Morrall did start for the Colts in 1968. He also started in lieu of Griese for most of the 1972 season. However, Griese did start the Super Bowl itself

Give me Craig Morton for the win, please. Dallas Cowboys in 1970 and the Denver Broncos in 1977. He was the first, and until Warner, the only.

Would that really be any better, though? I mean the guy's not dead. Playing something livelier might even benefit HIM more, keep HIS spirits up.

Well, since the Ravens lost...GO CARDINALS! :p

I only saw part of the Ravens/Steelers game. Yeah, it was ugly.

Excellent work, Cardinals! Just one more game! Be sure to show Pittsburgh just how mean the little birdie can get!

I thought it was rather impressive. The definition of smash-mouth football, reminiscent of the Raiders-Steelers match-ups in the 1970's. Even though the ramp-up to the game kept emphasizing "these teams don't like each other", I saw several players from opposite sides afterwards high-fiving, chest-bumping and congratulating each other. It sets up a fascinating dichotomy for the Super Bowl itself.
- The perennial doormat vs the long-time successful champion.
- one team going for their first title, the other for a record sixth title.
- The former assistant coach against the team he left.
- The young QB going for his second title, against the comeback veteran going for HIS second title.
- The NFL's best defense against one of the NFL's very best offenses.

This bodes well, so I hope it lives up to it.

Well, this sucks. I have no idea who to root for now that my favorite team and my (very) distant second are both out.

I'll give the Pittsburgh fans by the tunnel credit for being classy. As they're rolling Willis out, you could hear several fans yelling, "Good luck, Willis".

In Philly, they'd have probably thrown batteries at him.

Once again, the Cardinals completely surprised me. I want to start believing in them, but I'm afraid that'd mean bad juju for the team. Love to see them win, but I'm still thinking the Steelers will claim the title.

Well congrats to the Cards.
My first hope was for a Titans v Cards Superbowl just so that the irony of it could be the Titans beating a Warner lead team in the Super Bow.
Then my good friends team the Eagles were still alive so I rooted for them yesterday.

If Warner wins does he come back or retire?? He is 37 and going out on top is a rare opportunity, just ask Favre or Bettis. One did, one didn't. If Warners Cards win then he is a Hall of Famer easily.

Congrats to the Steelers.
This game was easy to cheer for as I can't stand the Ravens. Despite both teams at one time being a divisional foe I at least respected the Steelers and Ben is easy to root for even if he was too stupid one offeseason on his motorcycle.

So the Steelers vs Cardinals....I've not yet decided who to root for and may not. It may be a game I watch and just cheer each time good football is displayed by either team.

Oh yeah? Well I hate what ever team you like!

I sure hope AZ gets the win, they deserve it as does the city.
And Warner needs this + the mvp and he has a shot at Canton one day.
Being one of my sports heroes(thas right Titans ), I would love to see him go.

And it's spelled: "Favre"

The streets of Phx will flood with the tears of cardinals fans. Soon to be washed away in the same town by the celebrations of all the Steelers fans that live that live in Pheonix. Three or more Steeler bars in that city unite and show these rookies how it is done.

HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!

^^^ I sure hope that's the mentality of the commentators and media.

Every game this post season with the exception of Terry Bradshaw yesterday
(smart man) they picked against the Cards... well look how that's turned out.

Cardinals 27 - Steelers 21
