NFL 2024: Chiefs Kingdom Targets a Three-Peat

Seahawks trade DK Metcalf to the Steelers who give him a 5 year, $150 million deal.

Cash is king. Probably will have Mason Rudolph throwing him the ball. So this marriage will be lucky to last a season.

And free agency has begun! The players with big contracts so far include:

WR Chris Godwin stays in Tampa.

CB DJ Reed to the Lions.

CB Carlton Davis to the Patriots.

LT Dan Moore to the Titans.

LB Robert Spillane to the Patriots.

DT Javon Kinlaw to the Commanders.

DT BJ Hill stays in Cincinnati.

C Drew Dalman to the Bears.

OL Jaylon Moore to the Chiefs.

DE Haason Reddick to the Bucs. He's essentially playing this season in Tampa for free to make up for what he lost during his Jets holdout.

The Bears have traded for 2 OG's and now signed a center. A decent start, but they really need some serious depth as well. Plus a couple D-line guys.

Texans trade LT Laremy Tunsil to Washington for some picks. Interesting move by the Texans. I wonder who they plan on having for an LT this year? In the meantime Washington get the most penalized offensive lineman in the NFL for their new LT. Every game, EVERY GAME Tunsil gets an penalty of some type. The guy is a yellow flag machine.

The QB who is up for the challenge of the open competition in Indy is.... Daniel Jones.

Probably shows how little faith they have in Anthony Richardson. $14 million for a one-year backup QB is quite the score for Jones.

And the first big WTF contract is OL Will Fries, five years for $88 million to the Vikings. Has only played one full season as a starter and it wasn't last season. Could he become a star? Maybe. But that's still a lot of money for someone who's only had 31 starts in four seasons. I guess OL is like C in the NBA. Every team needs them and there aren't a lot of great ones, so they throw money at potential hoping they strike gold.

DeAndre Hopkins is in that journeyman phase of his career -- Tennessee, Kansas City and now Baltimore on a one-year deal.

Kirk Cousins still on the roster today, gets a $10 million bonus. The Falcons are really all in on the "we're paying him either way so let's keep him" concept, but don't high priced starters who become backups usually get cut by the team that demoted them because they become malcontents?

As long as he is getting paid, I think Cousins will fall in line.

Bengals actually spent money. Chase four years, $161 million. Higgins four years, $115 million.

Texans make Derek Stingley the highest paid DB per season of all time at $30 million per season for three years.

Vikings are rolling with McCarthy and not pursuing Rodgers.

There have sure been a lot of Rodgers stories since free agency began even though no one's actually said anything, least of all him.
