New to Who

Oddly, it's also a show that is very ill-suited to watching it straight through from the beginning, since "The End" is one of the weakest episodes. No matter where you start, it sometimes takes a while to get into the show because you have to learn the rhythms of the characters.

Yes, that's the classic dichotomy with Red Dwarf. It's a very hard show to get into, and I say that as a fan. It's difficult to know where to start when introducing someone to it.

Well without wanting to give too much away about the episode, that statement is not entirely accurate. Yes they were in Dallas but as for who shot kennedy. You'll have to watch the episode. Or this clip

I'd have gone with when they found out the entire experience was a video game. That was my first episode.

Yeah, but that just makes us feel like fools for not figuring out that this is also a video game too.

Back in 88, there was an easy way to get into Dwarf... just watch the thing on before Moonlighting!

<SNIP> But I did find a recipe online for a fish fingers and custard dessert (cookies and vanilla pudding) that I want to try. </SNIP>

.
Auntie Hill did some of those for a Doctor Who themed Party a couple years back, if I recall her post correctly.

Cool. I've watched a few YouTube video tutorials as well, and they look yummy. I think instead of a birthday cake this year, I'll ask for fish fingers and custard:)

Agreed. I first recall catching bits of it on PBS. I have vague early memories of "Balance of Power" & "Me^2." The first episode I remember actually watching in its entirety was "Queeg."

I tried to get my best friend to watch it but, since he's a stickler for watching stuff from the beginning, I made the mistake of starting with "The End." He was totally bored & confused and didn't want to watch any more. I'm hoping that, now that it's been a few years, I can try to get him to jump on with some Season IV episodes like "White Hole" & "Meltdown," mostly for this...

Start with when they shot Kennedy in Dallas and roll on from there.

I dunno. That seems risky. Not because the Kennedy assassination is a sensitive topic but because I'm not sure it's a good idea to start with Season VII. :p

How hard is it to explain that everybody's dead?

This show was written for people from the 80s, and we know definitely that they were morons, because of the clothes they wore.

My favourite's Quarantine.

"So let me get this straight? You want to fly on a magic carpet, to see the King of the Potato People, and plead with him for your freedom? And, you're telling me you're completely sane?!"

Mister Flibble was very cross when they escaped. ;)

Also like the episode Meltdown even if i despise real life pacifism ("one man thought it wrong to fight/but the man who killed him, thought it right").

Just Caligula alone makes it work.
