NBA 2017 - 2018 Westworld

Well, over time, that is. No one's perfect. Even the Kings had a WCF "reffed" away from them.
 Come on, you know that was one of the most legit ass whippings in league history. Besides, the game to which you refer was game 6. The Kings still got a game 7 at home and still lost. Why would there be any doubt that the best team went to the Finals that year. :)

The best ref sure didn't!

Don't be so sensitive--This was all in response to your jab against the Spurs, when the only point I was making is that some teams have exhibited great stability (one being the Spurs), while others have assuredly not (one being the Kings) over the years. There are others, Lakers and Celtics being a couple of others who have. And Minnesota could be in the Kings category.

Anyway. Not sure the Rockets can make this a series, but they are trying!

I don't know what is happening with the italics in this post. I can't stop them, they're out of control.

I'm sensitive? The Kawhi situation is a fiasco and the Spurs apparently haven't been too good at handling it or covering it up.

And how long ago was that game 6 against the Kings?

The Spurs have been lucky over the years in that their star players have all been happy to stay in San Antonio. But the Spurs' vaunted stability has really been based on the fact that the teams' 3 stars, Manu, Parker, and Timmie, were all content to stay in San Antonio and accept their roles.

That luck was bound to run out eventually, and it looks like it may have, because it does not appear that Leonard wants to remain with the Spurs. We'll see if this is a fact soon enough.

When folks have heaped praise on the Spurs' organization over the years, much of it deserved, I've always responded that we'll find out what kind of organization the Spurs really are once Timmie, Tony, and Manu retire. That time is coming soon.

Warriors could easily lose this series. They now have to win another game in Houston. That will be made that much harder with some of their key guys hurting. They are a tough team so we'll see.

My prediction of every game in this series being won by the home team, looking pretty good at the moment.

Hopefully Celts can steal game 6 and not have to deal with elimination game.

I will be so happy that if the finals is Celtics/Rockets. Even when Celtics lose.

If the predicted trade happens and we end up with Tatum or Brown as our 6th man next season, be very afraid.

^I would guess that Tatum or Brown would be part of that trade.
Indeed. Hard to see a scenario where the Spurs make that deal and it not include one or both, plus a first round pick. Kawhi is a potential future HoF player. Celts could wait until 2019 and try to sign him in free agency, but they would then have lots of competition.

This is assuming he's healthy. If he's not then all bets are off.

The commentators are suggesting Kyrie and the Kings pick, I agree if it did not involve Irving it would obviously involve one or both of Brown and Tatum.

The question is, do the Spurs want Kyrie? If they do, then they might go for him as part of the deal. The other thing is that if this is true, sounds like the Celts may have soured on Kyrie, which I kind of doubt. But of course if the Celts go on to actually WIN the championship, they almost surely find Kyrie expendable.

But why not give up Tatum if you're getting back a better player at the same position who is only a few years older than Tatum? Leonard is the player who the Celts hope Tatum grows into. Passing on Leonard to keep Tatum are the kinds of decisions that push championships further into the future. As a Lakers fan, I hope the Celts really are intent on keeping Tatum (assuming he is a player the Spurs really want for Kawhi).

Keep in mind to, that Leonard is a free agent after 2019, so the Celts are likely going to want a guarantee that he'll sign a new deal with them or they aren't likely to make the trade.

Very true, Kyrie has implied commitment to Boston, Kawhi has not. But if they could pull off the straight one for one and draft picks they’d go for it. And personally, Kyrie is incredible on offense but if you could get the same offensive talent from a player who’s also great on defense? They’d be the elite defensive team of the league.

If it was Tatum it’d probably also involve someone like Rozier and at least another young guy, and then they’d lose some cap they need to resign Smart.

I can’t imagine the Celtics beating the Warriors or Rockets, but then again I gave them 30% odds for two rounds straight. In the finals more like 5%.

I'm not a basketball fan, and if I were, the Bulls are a long ways off of being even a decent team.

Still, it would be nice to see a Boston-Houston finals matchup. No Golden State or Cleveland (or both again) would be a nice change of pace.

As much as I want them to, I don't think Houston is going to make it. It'd sure be nice to have another parade in Houston though, we don't get very many of those.

What’s going on with officiating in this game? A couple of obvious no contact called fouls, charges called fouls, no calls with obvious contact.

Not to mention Lebron apparently gets 8 steps before it’s traveling.

NBA needs to think about challenge system.

Well, pretty much as I thought, Cavs were good for one, and only one win on the road in this series. Because of the Celt's inexperience and injuries, which inhibited their ability to win on the road, one win was all the Cavs needed. Not a bad outcome for me considering I'm a Lakers fan. :D

But LeBron's 8th trip to the Finals is owing as much to the weakness of the east as his underwhelming 3-4 record in the Finals is owing to the strength of the west. If LeBron had spent all his time in the west, there is NO WAY he'd have 8 Finals appearances in a row.

Cavs have at least a shot at beating the Rox. I can't see them beating the Dubs, however, especially if GSW is healthy.
