Nana Visitor's 'A Woman's Trek' book coming in 2022

Amazon now has pushed the release date back a year to September 2023. Anyone know whether this is an Amazon goof or whether the book has been pushed back?

I don't know for sure, but Indigo/Chapters is also now listing the September 2023 date, so it doesn't appear to just be an Amazon thing.

Unfortunately, books getting pushed back seems to be a bit of a theme right now. Understandable, though, under the circumstances the world finds itself in.

Sounds interesting. I wonder if she is going to interview the other women. Those who are still alive anyways. As with all new Trek material it will always be a interesting look at finding out new stuff vs the stories we heard a million times. I suspect though this book will be more about what it all meant to them from a emotional angle and less of a behind the scenes factoid type of book.

She talks more about who she has interviewed and hopes to in this interview:
As soon as I started to interview the women writers, some of the original guest stars from Star Trek, like BarBara Luna, France Nuyen, Sandra Gimpel, Tania George, Irene Tsu—although Irene was actually in Voyager—I had them all to lunch in my house. And we filmed it, which was completely fascinating. The perspective they gave, of what the business was like at the time, how they lived in it, was so compelling. And it brought up so many questions for myself that the book started to take on a life of its own. . .

I’ve spoken to Hannah Louise Shearer, Melinda Snodgrass, Lisa Klink, Phyllis Strong, Judy Reeves-Stevens. I’m about to speak to Jeri Taylor. I’ve spoken to people in NASA, and I’m planning to speak to more. Michelle Thaller was a fascinating interview. Not only the women that were in Star Trek or contributed to Star Trek, but the people that were inspired by it to actually go out and journey into space.
And also that Marina Sirtis, so far at the time of that interview, has declined to be interviewed: "she said all she can say about being a woman in Star Trek."

When did Marina Sirtis start talking about women in Trek? I have a suspicion she has declined because Nana Visitor was on DS9, which she doesn't like that much.

Oh, I'm sure she's been asked about it on umpteen convention panels over the last 35 years . . . .

Certainly she's talked about the sometimes unforgiving costumes she was put in, the constant pressure from producers to watch her weight and maintain her figure, etc. I saw her riffing about it at Shore Leave just a few years ago.

I'm currently watching Jenna Coleman as Victoria. She was put into corsets as women were expected to wear in the high society. I find it hard to picture myself in a tight corset, especially since I've put on some weight around my waist. And I still want to keep on breathing. So I can feel with the actresses who have to suffer in thoses dresses and costumes.

With Eaglemoss going into administration, any chance of this still actually coming out or being picked up by another publisher?

According to this tweet, it sounds like this project, or something very similar, is still on! The title has changed, but based on the (admittedly limited) information in the tweet, it sound like this could be the same book. Happy to hear that this seems to still be on the way!

Many thanks to @4Lights , who brought the tweet to my attention in this thread!

Wow. $50 list, but what appears to be a fairly large format, with 4-color throughout. I'm guessing that the reason for the delay is simply that the scope of the project kind of spiraled out of control. I certainly want one. They're saying October.

It's out! Amazon delivered my copy of the book today! I haven't even taken the plastic wrap off yet, so I can't really comment on the contents. But it is certainly a hefty tome!

I don't usually preorder things, but I preordered this book, and I'm glad I did... I ended up paying $21 less than what they're charging now that it's been released.
