We were all like, why isn't Luna helping? Then we remembered that she's nocturnal. :(

Managed to watch it through on Youtibe.

ZOMG! I just watched the episode. It was awesome! It had an almost Disney-esque vibe to it.

I thnk it's the villain song that does it. How many other studios produce cartoons where the bad guys sing about their motives?

"This Day Aria" was one of the best songs yet, and the Villain
Chrysalis
is one of the best yet, she was awesome (and cute until the whole decaying body thing revealed, ugh) and honestly better for the story than Discord.

I think it might be more than that, although that definitely was one of the deciding factors and sealed the opinion for me, but... even the other elements gave such a feel. The fact it was happening in a castle-like city, that there were lots of armored guards/knights, it was a wedding, romantic, the way the story unraveled, the existence of an evil army, imprisoned princess, songs, some animation tricks...etc, etc. All in all, I'm pleased. :D

Between the name Changelings, the fact that they have been planning a take over of Equestria, and the fridge horror that the duplicated background ponies that have popped up might be them, part of me was expecting a DS9 style cliffhanger at the end:

*Luna walks up the wedding party, concerned look on her face*
Celestia: What's the matter, sister?
Luna: The Changeling Queen, she said something to me as she was being blown away from Canterlot.
Twilight: But we defeated her Princess Luna, what could she have possibly said that has you so worried?
Luna: She said, "You're too late. We're everywhere."

Also, Vinyl Scratch's eyes. We finally see them! :D

Oh, man. The villain this time around was diabolical! Loved the whole villain song, too!

Poor Celestia. The changelings have a queen, but she'll never be more than a princess. :(

And, so the season comes to a close. And, in a pretty epic fashion. Highlights and comments:

- Rarity's so excited she faints twice, and doesn't even need a couch.

- The scene with Twilight talking with the sandwich was really funny.

- Another ponified expression: "who in the hoof"

- The first Twilight song was well sung...but bland, at least the first time. The second use later on was more effective.

- Spike playing with the dolls was hilarious...and perfectly in character.

- Your squee sound effect of the episode comes from Applejack.

- It was AWESOME seeing Luna again. Three times too. Her ending scene was the best, of course.

- The parts where Twilight grows ever more suspicious and begins investigating was really when the episode sucked me in. I honestly wasn't sure what would happen. The cliffhanger was very emotional, and the ending with Cadence going all evil was extremely effective.

- I have to admit, I thought Cadence was brainwashed or just turned bad. I wasn't expecting it to be a changeling. Nice twist.

- The song in part 2 song by the Cadence(s) was much better than the Part 1 song. The villain part was awesome, and any song with the lyrics "have to save the day" meant in a honest fashion always gets the thumbs-up for me.

- Nice to see the CMC as flower girls, although some dialogue would have been nice.

- The last half of Part 2 was simply epic. We see Celestia in action and then get defeated and then the massive pony battle against the Mane Six clones. That was truly epic, with great music, and lots of great gags (Fluttershy trying to be mean, Pinkie demanding to be imitated, etc.)

- Happy to see Derpy in the background in Part 2! And the DJ pony was cool to see too.

- And, finally, Rarity going nuts about the bouquet was a nice gag.

All in all, I would rank it slightly under the other 2-parter of the season, but only just. On a simple 5-letter scale, it'd fall on A. A bit more detail would put it an A-. So, my final episode rankigns for season 2, an extremely solid season overall:

(A) The Return of Harmony, Lesson Zero, Luna Eclipsed, The Mysterious Mare Do Well, Sweet & Elite, Secret of My Excess, The Last Roundup, Read it & Weep, Hearts and Hooves Day, A Friend in Deed, Hurricane Fluttershy, A Canterlot Wedding
(B) The Cutie Pox, Baby Cakes, The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000, Putting Your Hoof Down, It's About Time, Ponyville Confidential, MMMystery on the Friendship Express
(C) Sisterhood Social, May the Best Pet Win, Hearth's Warming Eve, Dragon Quest
(D) Family Appreciation Day
(F) None!

Can't wait for season three!!!!
