MLB World Series 2018: Eh. Dodgers/Boston. Eh.

This game refuses to end...

Doesn't help that they're all swinging for the fences now.

It's now the longest game in postseason history (by time, not sure about innings).

I thought of two very wrong commercials to play right at this moment...
The Energizer Bunny
The Snickers "Not going anywhere for a while?"
And possibly a Red Bull commercial. The players will need it later this afternoon...

Madness. David Price just came in relief on only two days of rest.

In this particular case, I don't think there's an argument for overturning it. Bogaerts had already thrown the ball before Turner made contact.

Yeah, but there's no penalty for intentionally trying to injure someone with a slide?

Can't believe Kinsler blew that lead in the 13th. That was about when I went to bed.

Will be interesting to see the effect of fatigue tonight. Who the hell is available to pitch? Pomeranz and Sale for the Red Sox, who on the Dodgers?

Only if it appeared malicious and going out of their way, liking cleating or throwing an arm up (like Macahdo did in the NLCS and even then nothing came out of it beyond a review). Bogaerts was in the path of the slide so there's going to be contact.

As far as I'm concerned, he blew the game twice. He shouldn't have run for home, especially since he already demonstrated in that inning how slow he is now.

I stuck it out the whole though to the 18th at 0330...and I'm paying for it now.

Buck talked about possibility of Kershaw pitching, which is as likely as Sale. I think they also have Stripling left, too.

So tired....

Rich Hill for the dodgers, o idea yet for the Sox. Pomeranz, ERod, or Sale is all we’ve got as options. Probably stack the first two and see what happens. Plus side of abusing Eovaldi is that the rest of the bullpen didn’t get stretched out, Dodgers went a couple with some of their guys. Unusual for the most valuable impact from a player to belong to the guy that took the L, it absolutely what happened this morning...

The Mets are the gift that keeps on giving...

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/10/metrs-reportedly-narrow-gm-search-to-bloom-van-wagenen.html

Oct. 27, 9:30am: The Mets have agreed to terms with Van Wagenen, tweets Joel Sherman of the New York Post. The two sides are still hammering out the contract language, but the deal to put Van Wagenen in charge of baseball operations could be finalized as early as today. Because of the World Series, Monday’s day off is likely the earliest Van Wagenen would be formally introduced.

I figure Doug Melvin torpedoed his candidacy when he was started talking to news outlets like he already had the job, saying what he would and would not do. (Edit:  ESPN is so wholly in the bag for New York; they already killed the story from yesterday and have the URL redirecting to their MLB home page.)

Van Wagenen is ... well, they get a commendation for original thinking; I think this is the first time an agent has become a GM.

Ah, right, I forgot about Hill. Goes to show how tired I am, too.

Those final three innings were fantastic and thankfully it didn't go to extra innings.

Tomorrow is going to be a monster game. Sale v. Kershaw the rematch for everything.

Going with price over sale. Said not injury related, it wondering if they don’t want him to swing a bat or run bases, plus this gives him a couple more days.

Equally likely, Price is mentally abit fragile, so they’d rather know they have two shots if he blows it. Price is feeling good now, put him out there before he thinks about it too much. If sale lost, more stress on Price for game 6, and want to avoid the ‘anything can happen in game 7’ thing, especially when we’d have to toss Porcello or Eovaldi against Buhler. Best to see if Price can handle things in Game 5 while you still have two left in your pocket if needed.

Good points. Plus, if it's a close game with Boston in the lead, Sale will likely come in to close, especially with Kimbrel undoubtedly unavailable.

Congratulations to the Red Sox! Despite their best record in the Majors, they arguably had the toughest path to the championship. Hell, it's a rarity for the team with the best season record to win it all.

"[Baseball] breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall all alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.”

Offseason thread coming soon.

Still has not been more than a three year gap between Boston championships since 2001.

After growing up with the 15 year gap of the 90s between 86 Celts and 01 Pats, when all the teams were bad all the time.
