MLB 2025: The A's are Playing Where Now?

Meanwhile, the Pirates are off to a typical start: lost 3 out of 4 against the Marlins. All four of the games in the series were 1-run games, with David Bednar chalking up two of those losses himself. Time for them to find a new closer, because The Renegade just doesn't have it anymore. They were stupid to not pick up Aroldis Chapman for another year.
Apparently, even the Pirates could finally see the writing on the wall. Bendar has been sent down to the AAA Indianapolis Indians.

Giants are 5 and 1 and took a series in Houston. I doubt they sweep, but if they do, great for them. They are starting the season pretty strong. Now if only the Dodgers would lose.

Jackson Merrill nine-year, $135 million contract extension with the Padres.

Garrett Crochet six-year, $170 million extension with Red Sox.

The average salary has now topped $5 million. Anyone old enough to remember when people lost their minds after Kirby Puckett and Rickey Henderson each got $3 million per year?

I hope the Phillies can do what the Braves seemed incapable of doing, beating the Dodgers. It feels like no lead is safe, even though the Braves might be a average to bad team this year.

Damn, Freddie Freeman just landed on the injured list due to that shower slip on Monday.

Better than punching a bench but that still sucks.

Hopefully ESPN follows suit soon, too.

...although I think I already know which of my hitters are using them.

Yahoo fantasy baseball is now labeling the hitters who use torpedo bats.

I personally think it's stupid and it's a non-story, but if people like it, who am I to argue.

Dodgers and Padres finally lost and the Giants won their home opener yesterday. That division will feel like a dog fight all year long.

The Pirates being the Pirates, removed the Roberto Clemente logo from right field and replaced it with an ad for Surfside, an alcoholic drink. After backlash, they apologized and are putting it back.

Although to be honest, the Clemente logo had only been up there three seasons. That spot had always been used for advertisements before that.

Still tacky.

Even so, when you take that space and give it over to a tribute to the most beloved Pirate of all time, and then let it stay up for several years, folks treat it like a permanent installation. Just another example of Nutting's astonishing congenital tone-deafness. The team is in the shitter and the fans are getting fed up, so let's piss them off even more.

Dodgers won't go wire to wire in the NL West. The Giants currently sit in first at 8-1. It's early, but it is a wonderful feeling.

Guerrero deal official. 14 years, $500 million, pending physical. No deferral money.

That is a lot of years. Hopefully it works out, but I feel like once we get close to the half way point, they would wish they didn't sign this contract.
