MLB 2024: Baseball is for Everyone (subject to local blackout restrictions)

Honestly, I'm all for that. I've never been a big fan of the wild card, but I was mostly fine with it when it was only one card. But now that it's two and with a bye and all of this other shit? Zzzzzzz...

I long for the days of simplicity.
That's how Keith Olbermann feels, according to comments on his Countdown with Keith Olbermann podcast. He questions why we need the regular season at all if this is the way it's going to be.

You all will probably run me out of this thread on a rail, but hear me out: playoff brackets for a 32-team sport with 4 divisions in each league, so you have four division champs in each league, four wild cards in each league, and no bye whatsoever.

That's probably not far off from what they'll go with when they do eventually expand to 32 teams. Unfortunately, the wild card isn't going anywhere, especially when it makes it possible for multiple big-ticket teams in the same division to all make the playoffs.

Weeeeeeelllllll.....

At least the Yankees won't have to face Tarik Skubal in the ALCS.

Oh, and @Danny99? I agree, I don't want a Yankees/Dodgers WS either.

I'd much rather have it be Yankees/Mets.

At least then I'd be guaranteed that one of my favorite teams would win. ;)

A world series between the Dodgers and Yankees would be personally annoying.
How so?

Me, personally, I got no beef with the Dodgers. If the 2024 WS is Yankees/Dodgers, hey, that's fine. That hasn't happened since I was in sixth grade. I wouldn't mind a repeat.

As I said, though, I'd prefer that it be Yankees/Mets, for reasons I've already gone over. ;)

Edit: I'm listening to the Yankees/Guardians game on radio and every time John or Suzyn mention Cade Smith I keep hearing it as "Kate Smith".

Because I hate both teams.

Yet Trout chooses to stay with the Angels. That, and he is injured a lot.

Sometimes players are happy to play for the team that drafted them, with the (fleeting) hope that one day they'll bring a title to that city. Joe Thomas is an elite level Hall of Famer who wouldn't leave the Cleveland Browns.

Would the Chicago White Sox move? Supposedly Jerry Reinsdort is open to selling and the Dave Stewart group is interested, but Stewart's part of a group that's been vying for an expansion team in Nashville. Reinsdorf wants a new stadium adjacent to the Chicago River.

Meh, if Cleveland is out, I won't be paying much attention. Three big market teams that can buy their way to a title. Just because they can spend in perpetuity doesn't mean I have to like them each year in the championship.

Crazy last couple of games in Cleveland. This has been a pretty good postseason, but these LCS games have been blowouts. It's nice to see the last two games in Cleveland were relatively close.

Meh.

I was hoping for Guardians vs. Mets. At best, we'll get Subway Series Sequel.

...which wouldn't be too bad. I'd might tune if work allows for it.
