Thanks to my mom for giving me this idea (and don't worry, we'll find your old toy lion yet - unless the moths found it first...).

Whatever favourite thing you still have from your childhood: toys, books, clothing, vices & virtues, photos etc.
Please keep the images to 200 x 200 max. The voting poll will go up Thursday evening CET (that's Thursday morning PST).

OK, took me awhile to get this done, but here it is.
Meet Boo-Boo the bear, so-named because the zipper in his little back broke wide open, exposing the music box inside of him. Mom quickly fixed it with a safety pin (which is still there) and said, "He just has a boo-boo." Boo-Boo is actually older than I am (that's pretty fucking old, folks), as he was intended for my oldest sister (she was adopted; they had initially wanted a boy) but never given to her; he was blue and God Forbid anyone gave blue gifts to a baby girl back then. By the time I came along, the third child, they stopped caring about who got what, so when Mom found him in the closet, she just grabbed him and put him in my crib. I've had him ever since. Maybe he's the reason I like blue so much (he was bright baby blue at one time). He's faded, dirty, stained, beaten-up but he's still my favorite.

^^ Aw, that's nice (not the mileage, the Boo-Boo).

I'm a sentimental saver, so I have a lot of things from my childhood that I could post. I have a picture I took of the Apollo 11 Moon landing on TV, I have the two issues of Galaxy magazine that serialized Rendezvous With Rama, I have a desk and bureau that date back to about 1967-- even my license plate dates back to about 1981 (not just the number, the actual plate). But I'm going to have to be a bit redundant here and post a picture of good old Fluffy:

My Mother gave me Fluffy for my first Easter, so the little guy is about 54 years old and is my only stuffed animal from the 60s to have survived (RIP Harrigan and Mortimer). Like Boo-Boo, he's a little beat up-- he's got some bad stitching in his tummy and I'm pretty sure he's blind-- but he'll be with me to the end. By the way, that quilt he's sitting on dates back to at least 1974. The full-size picture is here.

A bunch of things, mostly toys. A couple of my toy dogs (I had over 50 when I was kid), my Metroplex transformer toy and my Geordi La Forge action figure's leg (I used to put him in a glass of water and shove him in the freezer - maybe I was pretending it was carbonite - and he finally broke at some point - I didn't know his name as a kid and just called him "Mister Man"). I keep that in a box of memories along with the only starship made from cardboard that I kept, I threw the others in the fire.

Here he is, literally my avatar for a week, because I don't have a Photobucket account any more. Teddy celebrated his sixty-fifth birthday on Christmas 2015. Unfortunately, he's blind and not in very good health.

I also have a small maple bookcase that once matched the crib and chest of drawers -- all Mid-Century Modern, as they call it these days -- in my nursery. And my wool baby carriage blanket that was made in England. I love that the label identifies it as a "pram rug." But Teddy's my favorite.

(If he can't be in the contest because I didn't actually put him in my post, that's okay.)

Thanks to that bad case of water damage I had a few years back, I lost the first comic book I bought with my own money (well, allowance), but my other choice is maybe even better.

Okay, this is real: I still have the Playmates' Enterprise-D model with lights & sound from the early 90s. I got it for Christmas 1993, and while through the years, moving several times, surviving both the heavy playing of my childhood and those teenage years in which I lost interest in Star Trek, it did lose the nacelles, the model is still relatively healthy and in my possession. And this model might be one of the reasons the Enterprise-D is still my favorite ship.

I do wish I had a better camera, though.

The bear I've had since birth (not got a picture of him though) who is called Teddy Kins and wears bright red dungarees, currently sitting on a shelf in my bedroom watching over me as I sleep.

oh dear, I completely forgot to put Misc Av Contest in the header and can't edit it anymore. What a mess.

Locutus, could you be so kind, please, as to add it, if it's technically possible? Or would you rather have me start a new thread? Whatever you prefer is fine with me.

My favorite things I have from my childhood are my Barbie, Midge, Skipper, Esther Pearl, and the first doll Mom and Dad got me for Christmas.

You would be better off PMing him directly.

Done. :techman:

you're a darling! :adore:

As there are only 5 entries so far - due to my unfortunate choice of thread title - I'd like to prolong the entry time a little. This way those posters who told us about their fav toys get a chance to take photos and post them.
Come on, people, courage! It'd be fun to see a few new contestants. And don't worry if you can't resize the pic to 200 by 200 pixels. Many of us have the necessary software and can help you.

As I'll be afk during the weekend the voting thread will go up on Sunday evening CET / Sunday morning PST
