Contest: ENTER Misc Av Contest: Favourite thing you kept from your childhood

I got an idea for an entry.

I still have my old silver toy Corvette convertible. It's been through thick and thin with me. Has the scratches and the cracked windshield to prove it . I still love it and it still runs as well as it did when I first got it. :)

Working on resizing the entry and then uploading it.

Here it is:

very stylish! =) And she is independent of any oil shortening plus very environment-friendly.

May I introduce to you my old friend Eule [oil-eh] (owl) - my very first Christmas present. My mom crotcheted her for me and Owl protected me from the evil GP and his nasty syringes whenever I had to get a vaccination. Owl used to take the injection first, to see that it really didn't hurt. And of course, like everyone who was vaccinated, Owl got a roll of fruit drops for being so brave =)

Owl will turn 52 next Christmas - so she needn't be vaccinated anymore. Alas, no fruit drops either nowadays :D

Thanks! :)

I like how so many people still have their first stuffed animal around after all these decades. :D

So do I :). It's too cool. Still have mine too. A pink (now more whitish) bear that I got from my cousin when I was really young. She (the bear) has been through 3 eye operations with me. Very dependable, that bear :).

Now, see, this is the way you're supposed to take care of a bear!

Teddy lost his vision when we were both very young, and no one did a thing about it! :( By the time I was old enough to take care of it myself, he decided he was comfortable staying as he was. But I sometimes regret his choice. Btw, he had beautiful brown eyes -- glass on long pins, like old-fashioned hat pins.

Edited to add: Oh, wait! Did you mean that you've had three eye surgeries, or she has?

I meant the former. But she even got her own arm bands! :) As for her, she needs some restuffing surgery. I slept and hugged her too much when I was a kid.

Ah. That sucks. Is there any way that you can get him repaired? I'd love to do the same for mine, repair wise, but I'm not sure if Build-A-Bear does that kind of work.

and here's the poll: http://www.trekbbs.com/threads/misc-av-contest-favourite-thing-you-kept-from-your-childhood.281585/

And welcome back, Trekbbs. For some reason I got a 502 (bad gateway) the last 12 hours.

Alas, so many parcels get lost in the mail nowadays, else I've said send the visually or stuffingly challenged bears to me and I'll give them the necessary treatment. But how about a vacation in Bavaria, completely with bear surgery and rehab plus a native guide to the local sights? :) Just drop by when you happen to be in the vicinity.

Random Spock, that's so cute that they gave your bear hospital armbands like yours.

Unfortunately, Teddy is too old and ill for surgery. In addition to the eyes, his fur is worn, the velvet on his paws disintegrated years ago, and his stuffing has dry rot. He hibernates almost the entire year now and just wakes up for a few weeks around Christmas.

Rhubarb, keep talking! You just might convince me to add Bavaria to my list of places to visit, even without the bear rehab. :)

Ahh.

Mods, could you also edit Ziyal's entry into post #11, please? Thank you.
