Mike Grell's Run on "Green Arrow"

Orion's Belt 27

Has anyone read this "Green Arrow" run? I'm thinking about picking up the collected editions soon, especially since it will probably be late next year when the entire run is complete.

I'd been thinking about getting some "Green Arrow" comics since I started watching "Arrow" last summer, and the general consensus seemed to be that Grell's run was the best of the older GA stories. Heard it was very self contained too, which is good, 'cause I don't want to get too sucked into all the huge DC crossovers.
It was pretty much set in it's own little corner of the DCU. It didn't crossover with other books and was pretty "grounded".

Thanks for the reply, @Greg Cox! Just out of curiosity, have you read any other DC comics series?

I grew up on DC Comics, switched over to Marvel as a teen, then rediscovered DC in college, around the time of "Crisis on Infinite Earths." Been reading them--and occasionally novelizing them--on and off ever since. :)

As I like to joke, I've been a comics fan since they were twelve cents an issue!

(Dime comics were slightly before my time.)

I started with The Longbow Hunters back in the day and read a very long run of the ongoing series by Grell. I really enjoyed it.

If you like Grell's run on Green Arrow you should check out his creator owned series Jon Sable, Freelance. I's probably been alt least 20 years since I read it but I remember really enjoying it back in the day.
