Metalhead Trekkies?

Are there any other Trekkies out there with interest in metal music?

For me metal music is the only kind of music I want to actually put on and listen.

Music has its place on TV too obviously but that's a different thing.

As for what I listen to, there's much metal out there and I'm very selective.
Metallica, 80s and 90s material
Pantera, 90s material
In Flames, 90s material
Dark Tranquillity, early 2000 material

I also play (electric) guitar. Been playing for about 20 years. Although not so much these days, I don't even remember exactly when was the last time. Might have to pick up a guitar some day and try if I can still play something. :)

I was into 80's metal, but nothing really beyond that.

Metal was fun back then because it was...well, FUN. It didn't get bogged down in politics or any of that crap.

Fun fact... that punk song in "The Voyage Home" was written and performed by Kirk Thatcher, one of the movie's producers. He also played the punk on the bus.

It was recorded in a hallway in the studio, with the lowest quality recording equipment they could get, to give it a garage band feel.

I love metal and have played in a few metal bands over the years. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Power Trip and Imperial Triumphant.

I like metal music and the different sub genres. (Even Scarlxrd who mixes trap and metal.) Mötley Crüe, Ghost, Arch Enemy are a few of my faves.

I am a HUGE metal fan, ranging from Arch Enemy to Delain to PAIN, Lacuna Coil, Dimmu Borgir, Nightwish, Epica, Once Human, Devin Townsend and the list goes on and on, I even can do death growls. :mallory:

I use the false cords, or false vocal folds, they're located above your vocal cords, and if you do them correctly then your vocal cords don't touch each other because your windpipe is fully open so there's no way you can cause damage.
I can't do fry scream yet, that technique is also safe since the vocal cords are closed and air is pushed inbetween them so like with false cord as long you do it correctly metal screams/growls are safe and won't hurt your vocal cords.
I'm not a pro but I can growl along with some songs but don't ask me to growl a concert, but I'm learning. :)

Been into classic rock, prog and metal for most of my life. First big gigs were Sabath, Maiden and Priest in 1980.

Saw Ozzy with Randy, Metallica with Cliff, Dio, Motorhead with Eddie and Phil, Maiden with DiAnno, worked at a theatre in the mid/late 80's so saw three or four gigs a week, played guitar in a band (never any good, but fun) and in my 50's still have long hair. Must have seen getting on for a thousand gigs over 40 years. Pretty much stopped gigging now though.

Hearing's screwed !

Best band of the last few decades ? Rammstein.

I saw morbid angel, and the entombed and others.. More liking the industrial scene though but all experimental is great...and since I like that, I make experimental and lots of it... My YouTube channel I broadcast it.. Mmm like right now... I would put the link to my live show but nobody is putting YouTube suggestions here ... ?? What is that about??

Oh..

I've never been into heavy metal, thrash metal, speed metal, death metal or scrap metal.

BTW, when I first saw the thread title, I though it said "Meathead Trekkies?".

I know so many excelent metal bands, would take me a while to write them all down, stumbled on Luna Mortis a while ago, they split up a long time ago but I really like their music. :mallory:

Not really a metalhead, but there are bands I enjoy for whom metal is part of their toolkit. For example:
