Jurassic World

I thought the film was OK. There was a lot wrong with it. The whole relationship thing with Pratt and the Raptors. Just couldnt get on board with it. Plus the 'mutual respect' thing with the T-Rex and Blue?!? I mean come on. But as a visual feast it was great.

Also hope no one minds the plug below, but my latest comic did focus on Jurassic World:

Just saw it yesterday and boy was it great. I think a lot of issues with the movie are hugely overblown and that nostaia is getting in the way of people enjoying it.

I also feel like it disregards JP2 and 3 and I'm fine with that. Why bother making a super dinosaur north of the park when you can on a separate island?

Also broke another record, it made 300 million in the USA the fastest ever, 8 days, vs 9 for Avengers.

Dragged by the girlfriend to see it last night.

As dumb as I expected it to be.

Man A: Hey, remember that dinosaur theme park where people were killed and slaughtered by the dinosaurs.
Man B: Yeah
Man A: Well let's open it up again but this time have a genetically mutated T-Rex
Man B: sounds great. I strongly anticipate that nothing can possibly go wrong

I was at least glad they had that one character who repeatedly pointed out the absurdity of having a theme park full of monsters. I would have liked to have seen more from him to be honest. Only film I can think of where I would have been happy if everyone had been eaten.

I look forward to seeing how they justify a theme park for the next film.

Doesn't anyone go to the movies just to have fun anymore? I can get up for a good dinosaurs eat the tourists movie every now and then.

Did your girlfriend enjoy it?

She did. She likes monster movies in general though (not sure why). They've never appealed to me. I just find myself rooting for the monster and not caring about the people.

I never got that either. The point of Jurassic movies are for 'dinosaurs' to eat monsters, non of them make sense.

It's just as dumb as the last three.

If you say "none of the movies make sense," and this one is "as dumb as the last three," what on Earth are you objecting to about his statement that it was "as dumb as he expected"? Your comments are worse than his. :p

JP III wasn't exactly a theme park. Maybe it will just be a research facility next time. Or hunters tracking down escaped dinosaurs and pterosaurs. There are several different ways they can go besides another theme park.

The 1993 original was a very tough act to follow.

The most important ingredient was a superb screen play, based on the intriguing story by Michael Crichton.

These YouTube videos discuss why it was a great movie:

Filmed on location in Hawaii. The fabulous island scenery called for a beautiful aircraft-an Augusta A109A helicopter.

A project that I would have liked to have seen on the big screen. In my head cannon, the title is Jurassic Park II, and likely set at Site C, on the third island. As a horror movie, it might have been as good as the original Jaws.

The only fondness I have for the sequel is the fact that I have an Uncle who's a paleontologist who was credited as a source for the novel.
