Jurassic World

62 on metacritic. So average critics seem to say it's pretty decent but not great. Maybe I'll see it if my friends want to see it. But not high priority.

Yeah, the whole training velociraptors thing is the coolest thing in the trailers.

I'm pretty excited about it. The way I see it, it can't possibly be worse than Jurassic Park III. For the record, I also enjoyed The Lost World :p Will definitely be seeing this on Monday or Tuesday

I'll probably write more tomorrow, for now: I loved every second of it. Enjoyed it more than Age of Ultron (and I thought that was very good too). Great summer blockbuster fun. The characters tend to be a bit two-dimensional but they cast so many great actors that it barely matters + DINOSAURS!!! ;)

I just got back from it, was brilliant, lots of little nods to the past films and the fight at the end was fucking amazing.

Oh yes, seeing the old visitor center, and the fight, I thought this can't be it! And then they did what they did and I was sitting there :Ding all the way.

Jurassic World is outstanding!! It really nails the Jurassic Park formula perfectly!

- The movie does a great job of showing us Jurassic Park and it is awe-inspiring. When we see the visitors enter through the massive gate from the first movie but this time, we see a full-fledged amusement park with tons of attractions and thousands of people, bustling with activity. And of course, we see several of the dino attractions where people can take a gyrosphere or walk through protective tunnels to admire all kinds of different dinosaurs. Beautiful!
- Of course, any good Jurassic park movie needs some tense scenes of dinos attacking humans. This movie definitely delivers!
- Lots of nods to the previous JP movies.
- Some nice humor!
- There is a great dino "boss battle" at the end. I won't spoil too much but it is EPIC!!

Of course, anyone who knows Jurassic Park, will recognize all the classic plots points, the arrogant scientist, the military guy with the hidden agenda, the kids who wonder off and get into trouble, it's all there.

Great movie!!

I just watch these movies to see dinosaurs and see dinosaurs eat humans. I think people are over thinking what the series is about.

Does the ending have any type of cliffhanger for a sequel?

Just got back a little bit ago from a 7:30 showing. HUGE crowd waiting for the 10:00-10:30 showings.

I think I enjoyed this more than I did the original Jurassic Park (then again I think Jurassic Park is the first non-Disney movie I remember seeing in theaters, I was 10 when it came out).

I think my favorite part was the finale honestly...

The mosasaurus coming out of nowhere to finish off the T-Rex's kill. The whole final battle of the raptors AND T-Rex working to defeat a hydbrid of themselves was just...awesome in its absurdness. I read somewhere else and it's so true...all they needed was Ken Watanabe saying "Let them fight" to make it like Godzilla. The idea that Chris Pratt's character could build ANY kind of hierarchy with the raptors? The whole idea of building a perfect predator dinosaur was pretty...ridiculous too. Loved it though, possibly more than Age of Ultron.

There is a sequence of pre-end scenes which could form the foundation of sequels.

The genetic scientists, led by Dr. Wong, had created embroyos of hybrid dinosaurs for military uses. This research and development was in parallel to the normal r & d for the park. Dr. Wong and the embroyos were evacuated off the island.

Maybe you should put that under spoiler code as that gives away a massive plot point in the film which only came out yesterday.

The pacing sucks and the characters outside of Owen have a serious case of the stupids.

It's better than TLW and JP3 but it fails to recapture the magic of JP1. It's fun, but not great.

Because the first Jurassic Park didn't have stupid characters and horrible plot points?

That is an issue in all the JP movies. The plot itself of dangerous dinos stomping people is absurd and can only happen if 1) someone makes the huge mistake of creating such powerful dinos in the first place and 2) more people out of incompetence or hubris, accidentally let the dinos loose near innocent people. If they did the sensible thing and not create the I. Rex in the first place, and the characters followed the rules, and if the kids don't foolishly go into a clearly marked restricted area, then you don't have a movie.

That's not the point. Those problems combined with terrible pacing and a little sense of forcing make it an okay movie instead of of a great one.

I'll settle for okay. I'm not the film connoisseur so many people around here seem to want to be.

The movie was a solid B+. It's a dinosaur movie. The dinosaurs were great and the final fight makes up for any shortcomings.

Chris Pratt did just fine. The kids were the same as every other movie kid in the universe. I admit I prefer Bryce Howard's character in the Village, but at least she's smartly dressed here.

Good movie. But I could have done without the 'kids in danger' angle again.
