Disney seems to not want this to happen.
Would they owe Weisman too much money or something? I don't get it at all.
A Gargoyle mivie is a no-brainer that should be happening. And yet...

Interesting that there are misconceptions about the rights at Disney. It reminds me about the original Muppet Babies cartoon. Fans of the show assumed the reason it’s never got a DVD release is that the rights for all the old movie and tv clips would be too expensive or need approval for use again. There was an interview with one of the producers who made it clear that is not an issue at all. During production he personally got clearance for that footage for any future release in any format. That show was largely built around old footage, they needed to ensure it could survive.

It would definitely be interesting to see what Peele could do with the story.
I really need to get around to watching more of the series sometime. I started to watch it a while back while it was on Disney's old streaming site, but I don't think I even made it all the way through the 5 part pilot before they pulled it.

The Scottish backstory part would be a bit costly but once we transition to modern day all the live gargoyle scenes would be at night.

The CGI would be easier to do since it will be in low light scenes.

Or maybe keep the backstory part to just the beginning of the movie. First 10 minutes.

A marketing campaign for the movie should be to put gargoyle statues at specific locations in New York. Hype the movie up.
