I really like the series JAG. I missed most of the series in its initial run, but started watching regularly when it was being rerun on History Television (in Canada). Since then I collected the entire series on DVD and have rewatched the series twice, the last rewatch just recently.
This last rewatch one thing really stuck out to me during the first season. Commander Allison Krenneck (played by Andrea Thompson) really goes after Lt./Lt. Cmdr. Harmon Rabb (David James Elliot) hard in pursuit of a relationship with him. She persistently says and does numerous presumptuous things that I saw as way over the line. And I couldn't help but think that if a man behaved that way toward a woman--particularly a subordinate as Harm was to Krennick--that it could be considered blatant sexual harassment.
It must be said that Harm manages to deflect Krennick's attentions in mostly face saving ways that manage to salvage his position and not give her reason to take out her frustrations on his career. But she really doesn't take the hints that he is not interested in her.
One also can't help but notice two issues at play with Krennick. Yes, I think she did have some sincere feelings for Harm--both physical and emotional--but I also think she saw him as a competitive threat to her position. Rabb was JAG's rising star and a possible threat to Krennick's own aspirations. And so part of her motivation in pursuing him romantically/physically could have been a play at controlling/manipulating him. And one can't help but think that if she is trying this with Rabb then she likely tried the same thing before as she rose through the ranks.
On a completely unrelated note I do wonder what the series might have been like if Lt. Meg Austin (Tracey Neddham) had continued with the series. Indeed I had always hoped Meg would return for one or two guest appearance throught the series just to see how she was doing but, alas, it never happened.
