I Love Chakotay!

Hi everyone,

I just want to say hi to everyone as a new member here. :)

I have been watching Star Trek for a very long time since "The Next Generation" was on the air, but since about 8 years or so "Voyager" has been my favorite Star Trek show. I really like all the cast members and characters, most especially that handsome gentleman Robert Beltran who I find to very hot and attractive as Chakotay. Especially, the "salt-and-pepper" grey of the earlier years than the dyed-black from the later ones. He has soulful eyes that I love gazing into for hours. That man can look me in the eyes and smile, and he can convince me to do anything that he wants and desires.

I never liked the other Star Trek men as much as Chakotay, except for maybe Bashir and Tom Paris. Kirk is too old and fat. Spock never did anything for me. McCoy is too much of a "father figure." Sulu was "meh." Chekov was annoying. Scotty would have been fine if he didn't gain all that weight (But, he was a very kind man, and I have a lot of respect for him).

On "The Next Generation" Picard was simply old, cranky, boring, and bald. A tea sipping guy who hides behind Shakespeare "isn't my cup of tea." Riker was fat, and I generally do not like men who hide behind facial hair. Worf was "too muscular" for my tastes. Geordi was boring. Data kind of looked gross. I used to like Wesley when I was younger, but for "boyish, skinny, and cute" he can't hold a candle to hotties like Orlando Bloom and Ioan Gruffud.

No guy on "Deep Space Nine" turned me on, except for Bashir. On "Voyager" I also liked Tom Paris besides Chakotay, but Paris loses points with me because he's not "a take charge type of man" like my Chakotay is. He almost became "Mr. Torres" in the later seasons. A shame, because I much preferred him as the "bad boy." ;) Tuvok is "too serious." Harry Kim is "meh." Neelix was just plain gross. And bald and arrogant men like the Doctor do not turn me on. Period.

I do admit that I am bi-sexual, so Kathryn Janeway really turned me on. After all those years of seeing Crusher and Troi in nurturing roles, and Uhura with her "Hailing frequencies open, sir" I really liked seeing a woman who was finally in charge of areas where men usually took charge as the captain of her own ship. Her "no nonsense" attitude and her feminine, softer side made me look up to her as a role model. But, she really turned me on even more once Seven of Nine came on board. All the fantasies I had of Seven exploring her "human condition" through Janeway... ;)

ENT I never made it past the 1st season. Archer was too indecisive and too much of wimp. I never found Trip or Reed to be attractive, despite what some fangirls think of them. Travis was boring, and Phlox (while a nice man) was just not my type. And I've seen prettier women in real life than Tpol and Hoshi. Talk about applying heavy amounts of make up... None of them were remotely interesting.

I especially liked Chakotay, especially in episodes like "Unity," "Timeless," "In the Flesh," "The Fight," and "Workforce I and II."

So, what is it about Robert Beltran and Chakotay you like the most about? :)

I liked his rants against the Voyager production staff and writers - he seemed to have his head screwed on right.

btw, are you the real Jessica Alba? If so, can I have your phone number?

You have the coolest avatar ever! :guffaw:

^^

Oh my!

I would fly anywhere for that man, except flying transatlantic to London is a little too far, not to mention beyond my own personal budget at the moment.

I am not a fan of rude, uptight, heavy drinking, fussy, and short-tempered British men (I personally have had bad experiences with them...), but if my RB is there, just maybe I may consider that trip after all. ;)

^^ OMG! That cat-duck is the freakiest thing I've ever seen :guffaw:

Hi, Jessica_Alba :)

Welcome to the dark side of the street

I think I love his smile best. When he lets those teeth and dimples out to play, I can't help smiling myself

I also love his hair, but more the Maquis salt n pepper buzz cut of (say) "Parallax" than the later, black dye-job - although there were times when that could look almost as good.

It isn't ALL about looks for me though. I really enjoy the Chakotay character's backstory, and who he is/was supposed to be on the show, especially when people like Jeri Taylor, Lisa Klink, and Joe Menosky were writing him. I love his stubborness, his principals, his loyalty, his courage over-riding his fears, his compassion, his openness to new peoples and new experiences, his sense of humour. I even love his slower grasp of higher tech/theory. He maybe wasn't written to be as knife-sharp as Janeway or Torres, but he gets there in the end and often with a more compassionate, rounded grasp on the bigger picture than the ladies have because of that. :)

As for Robert Beltran, I love him too. There are things I wish he hadn't said with regard to the show, but he's his own man and he's entitled to his opinions, same as the rest of us. He's put on a bit of weight since the show, but given his age and gravity that's hardly surprising, and I have a thing for cuddly men anyway, so that doesn't bother me in the slightest. I also appreciate his off-the-wall sense of humour, his kindnesses (that I've heard about from other fans), and his honesty. True, sometime he can be a little too honest, but I still think I prefer that to the thought of him spinning complete bullsh*t into fact just cos he thinks it's what I want to hear :)

Jessica, I'm curious what you thought about the episode where Chakotay and Janeway (almost?) "did it". Did it supercharge your libido? Or were you twice as jealous? ;)

I liked the early Chakotay, back when he was still Maquis. Dangerous, but principled. The romantic Chakotay from Resolutions took my heart right away. RB has the sweetest smile I've ever seen.

I liked the early Chakotay as well, but the Chakotay we saw in "Resolutions" made me want to upchuck. I prefer to think those insects on that planet affected his mind more than anyone realized. But yeah, RB has a smile that could melt permafrost. Yummy.

AMEN, sista!! AMEN!!!!! :) His smile just melts me.. I recently saw pics of him at a Comic con in TX, and he looks great!(although he looks like he's put on a few pounds..but no biggie for me!) His hair is a lot longer and he finally shaved off that icky beard. He's still very easy on the eyes and that tongue-in-cheek look is priceless!
I happen to agree with ILC on RB. I didn't agree with what all he said about the show either, but that doesn't mean that i don't like his attitude! I love his attitude about ST..he's like: I don't give a damn!! His sarcastic remarks crack me up even though i'm a fan of ST. :) But with his attitude, you either love it, or hate it. :) I happen to love it. :)
I also liked the earlier Chakotay-the rebellious Chakotay..I wouldn't mind him taking over MY ship!! He can take over my ship anyday!

Oh, where has this thread gone? Nobody`s answering?
So I will do.
Besides his wonderful smile,... he also has nice lips, hands,...
Well, I love Chakotay.

In the first season he showed the promise of being the most interesting character, with the most interesting background. He was my favourite of that season.

Then somewhere in early season 2, the writers started messing around with that, and Beltran stopped acting. Grade A to Grade F in the space of a few episodes.

Which, psychologically for this viewer, is worse than if he'd been no good from the outset.

Yeah, he's hot stuff! And he's also my "dream man" cause I usually dream about him. OMG!! Did I say too much???

Nah, you didn't say too much.

Even Hubby knows that RB is the only other man I'd be willing to kiss besides Hubby himself. Something about those absolutely gorgeous, full lips. Kissy-face, indeed!

As one of the male members here, I think Chakotay was very cool. He was charming and had a big heart but he was also up front and forceful when he needed to be.

I wish they had worked more on his interaction with Tuvok. I was never sure by the end of the series if Chakotay grew to like him or if he still held bad feelings toward him.

I agree that was a potentially interesting dynamic that got pushed to the wayside in later seasons. It was interesting how they were both trusted advisors to Janeway yet so different in their approaches. You can see some of that during "Basics".
