I hate "The Assignment"

This episode really bothers me...

Very stressful and frustrating.

Maybe it has to do with personal situations I find myself in, but... I may have to actually skip this one... if so, it'd be the first in my current run through...

It's on the opening credits right now...

Anyone else find this episode... troubling...

It's the one in season five, where Keiko is taken over by a Pagh'Wraith...

I skipped it. "trials and tribble-ations"! YAY!!!!!!!!!!

But, really, that entity in "The Assignment" is just SOOOOO.... evil...

Is this the one with Evil Keiko?

It would have gained considerable kudos with me if the alien had actually killed Keikole.....

I think it's the best episode about pah-wraiths.

Not that that's saying much. A solid 'O'Brien Must Suffer' episode. It, and Keiko, are underrated.

I find Keiko... annoying sometimes. When she's in a good mood, I like her just fine. But, that doesn't seem to be the case all that often

Miserable bitch. Poor ol' O'Brien, she was probably all sweetness and light before they were married. Then O'Brien fell foul of the world's most potent contraceptive, wedding cake!

The best Pah Wraith episode, IMO, is the one where they square off with the prophets. Is it Covenant?

What's funny is I actually liked the chemistry between Kira and Miles when they were kind of falling for each other during the pregnancy. I totally felt the attraction betwixt the two :)

No, that's "The Reckoning."

I have no particular problem with the episode as a story. I liked the involvement of the pagh-wraiths, I like the ringer it puts O'Brien through. But I have two problems with it.

1. After the interestingly nuanced performance Rosalind Chao put in for most of the episode, her "death" scene was laughable. She wailed and waved her arms around like a first year drama student pretending to be a tree. And considering that she threatened that she'd need only a split second to kill Keiko, she had about 10 seconds to do it in that scene and didn't bother.

2. The dreadful moment on the promenade where Worf approaches O'Brien and offers his condolences. It's such an obvious "we have to give this guy a line so he can get paid" scene, it makes me cringe.

"Convenant" was the 'Dukat leads a cult of pah-wraithists on Empok Nor' episode. I don't remember the title of the one you're referring to, but I do know the episode and it ain't great, IMHO.

And yes. I like Keiko even when she's bugging Miles. I liked her all the time. I can understand why people don't like the Ferengi, but the Keiko hatred is really beyond me. What got to me in "The Assignment" was how unnerving it was for him to have his wife in this situation. Meaney made the pain palpable.

^^ I used to be great with episode titles

I have to admit, I didn't really mind the Pah-Wraith storyline.

Don't know about others, but the lasting impression I'm left with of Keiko is that she's such a miserable bitch, especially in the later seasons.

The Assignment is one of DS9's very worst episodes. I hate it, for that reason. Keiko is 100% unwatchable in any version of Keiko, 100% of the time. And a whole episode about her is completely unbearable. Definitely on my "always skip this episode" list. If only all Keiko scenes in the whole series were so easy to bypass as skipping this dreadful episode is.

I liked this episode. Although Keiko-centric episodes are hard to watch, they are far better than Ferengi-centric episodes.

I can't help but wonder what O'Brien ever saw in Keiko. Maybe all the years of operating the transporter scrambled his mental molecules.

I've always liked this episode. It's far from a favourite, but I would actually put it on my "underrated" list. It essentially introduces the Pagh'wraiths into the DS9 mythos and the story itself is creepy and very well executed. Granted Rosalind Chao is difficult to watch at times, but I didn't find her unbearable by any means in this one either.

I took it that the extended death throws was for Miles benefit. He must have pooped a brick when he thought it was real.

Something else, possibly the Pah Wraith may have been drawing on Keiko's own thoughts of what a death would look like? She doesn't see many people die as a botonist. Just a thought.

What he said.

Possessed Keiko is so sinister.

The Rom subplot was worked in well, too. The human engineers were so snobbish towards him. For shame, hew-mons.
