Human Fashion in Trek 2017

Although clothing has numerous variations, there are only a few basic types.

  • Close-fitting upper garment: Shirt, blouse
  • Close-fitting lower garment: Trousers, pants
  • Close-fitting over most of the body: Jumpsuit, Boilersuit, coveralls, overalls
  • Wrap-around lower garment: Skirt, kilt
  • Wrap-around over much of the body: Dress, gown, Robe, Toga, sari, kimono
  • Footwear: Sock, Shoe, boot, sandal
  • Handwear: Glove, mitten
  • Headwear: Hat, cap, Helmet
In the Western world, men have worn pants since the early Middle Ages, and women have recently caught up: Women and trousers That catching up was rather limited in the mid-1960's, when TOS was made, but it was much farther along in the 1970's, when the first ST movies were made.
