If we're doing the specs thing...

A little over 2yrs old. With no games both compelling and technically demanding in the offing, I expect it's roughly halfway through its lifecycle, although I'll need another HDD before then.

Enclosure: Antec P150
PSU: Antec NeoHE 430W
Motherboard: Asus P5B-E
CPU: Intel Core2Duo E6420 2.13GHz
RAM: 4GB Corsair PC2-6400
GPU: 512MB Nvidia 9600GT
HDD: 320GB Western Digital Caviar
Optical: Pioneer DVR-212 DVD-RW
Display(s): 2 x Dell 24" 2407WFP
Speakers: Altec Lansing MX5021
Headphones: Audio Technica ATH-A700
Mouse: Logitech MX Revolution
Keyboard: Some Dell thing, came with the monitor.
OS: Windows Vista x64

Both my desktop and laptop are around 5 years old. Since I don't play any games on them I can still manage, although it is getting annoying that my laptop's battery only holds 15 minutes of juice and the screen is fading more and more. Might get a new one next year.

Right now, Compaq Presario, Celeron, 797MHz, 256Mb RAM (though it should be 512Mb), 6Gb HDD. Have to fix the RAM and install a larger HDD as a secondary disk, moving off everything but Windows and old programs on C:, and expanding virtual RAM.

I'll also have to build another PC out of bits and pieces, bit of a Frankenbox - P4, 2GB, 320GB. Going to use it to make music, I have a couple of old school soundcards that I can do interesting things with.

I wish I'd have known that a couple of days ago. I just gave away a computer system. It wasn't brand new, but it was an HP Compaq D530S SFF with 160 GB HDD, 1.5 GB RAM, P4 2.66Ghz processor, 12X DVD burner. Worked great, came with XP Pro on it. I'd have given it to you for the cost of shipping.

December 2007, so getting closer to a year and a half old.

Beore that though I think I had 6+ years out of a P4 with limited upgrading.

Hmm. Let's see ...

Case: Coolermaster CM690, 9 months
PSU: Be Quiet! 650W PSU, 9 months
CPU: Core 2 Duo E6750, 14 months
Board: MSI P6N SLI, 14 months
Graphics: 9800GT 12 months, second 9800GT 9 months
RAM: 2GB 14 months, second 2 GB 13 months
DVD+RW: ~2 years?
HDDs (all Samsung nowadays), in some cases more of a guess actually:
160 GB, 4 years
250 GB, 3 years
250 GB, 1 year
500 GB, 1.5 years
500 GB, 1 year
1 TB, 3 months

Average age: A bit over 16 months. :D

Edit: This edit is being written on my 3.5 months old Compal JHL90 laptop.

:D Thanks, it would have been appreciated, but the mail service to the other side of the world from you? It would cost more in packing to protect it! Mind you, it might have had entertainment value. Will it arrive intact? Wil it arrive t all? Wil it end up on a coral atoll with Tom Hanks???

If we're posting specs, the new one:

Case: Antec Nine Hundred
PSU: Enermax Infiniti 720W
CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 GHz
Motherboard: XFX nForce 780i
Graphics: XFX GeForce 9800 GTX+
RAM: Corsair 2 x 2GB
Disc Drive: DVD +/- RW 22x
Hard Drive: Seagate 1TB

And I added a new 22 inch widescreen monitor a few weeks later, so I've got a dual monitor setup on my desk.

It's nice...

I've got some machines from 1983, they're the oldest I have, the youngest was build last year by myself. :)

It's about five years old now, but I got it second-hand about eight months ago. The guy either rarely used it or he cleaned it daily, because it looked like it came off the shelf last week.

My previous machine, which the wife still uses, is a PowerBook G3 ("Pismo"), which IIRC came out in 2001. Still okay for most surfing and WP, but it doesn't play Flash video too well.

Oh, you're across the pond! Yeah, that would definitely cost.
If you lived here in the U.S., for me to ship it to you inside of a week would be about $25.

My main systems (in order of most used to least)...
PowerMac G4 (Mac OS X v10.3.9)..... 10 years old
PowerBook G3 Lombard (Mac OS X v10.3.9)..... 10 years old

PowerBook G3 Wallstreet (Rhapsody 5.6)..... 11 years old
PowerBook 3400c/200 (Mac OS 8.6)..... 12 years old
Power Macintosh G3 Mini Tower (Mac OS X v10.3.9)..... just over 11 years old
Power Macintosh 8600/300 (Rhapsody 5.6)..... almost 12 years old
Power Macintosh 8600/300 (Mac OS 8.6)..... almost 12 years old
Sun SPARCstation 10 (OPENSTEP 4.2)..... about 16 years old

Macintosh Quadra 950 (Mac OS 8.1)..... about 17 years old

My daily use laptop is 3-4 years old (not a problem, works fine).

My desktop computer is a home built, evolving machine so the parts all have varying ages. Its newest part is an nVidia GTX 260 which I bought a couple months ago. The oldest part is probably the Seasonic S12-500 power supply which is probably over 3 years old.

Got a MacBook Pro a year ago... so there ya go. I do my gaming on my XBox, so it should last a while.

I use a computer that's almost eight years old. It's got 40GB of hard drive space, 128MB RAM, and (I think) 1GHz of processing speed. It works for most things, but sites like IGN and GameSpot are running more slowly for me. Maybe somebody who knows more about this stuff can tell me which attribute(s) needs to be upgraded for those sites to run optimally?

Parts of mine are between 1 and 3 years old. Youngest part is the video card (NVidia 8600GT) Oldest I think is the CPU (Athlon 5600, 2.81 Ghz). Though now that I think of it, a couple of the fans and the speed control on the front of the case might be a bit older. :)

I luvs my little black box.

I hate to say it but there area few things that may need to be upgraded. One of the first (and easiest as well as cheapest) upgrade one should get is the RAM
