How long will it take for season 2 of Star Trek Prodigy to be released in Canada?

I seem to recall that Bell media put Lower Decks not only on CTV Sci-Fi channel but also on CTV comedy channel. If find it really strange they can designate different CTV owned channels for cable content that's license to them but do not seem to have the same ability with their own streaming platforms.

Obviously if Bell Media chose to put Prodigy on Crave in stead of CTV app , Paramount is losing money. It hurts them ofcouse. . Blasphemy . Next time I sell a painting to someone, I will stipulate what room they can display it. 😕 😄

Now if we learn that media outlets mistook Prodigy being licensed to be streamed on CTV app and instead its actually (still) a CTV Sci-fi show , ( with access to CTV app wiith a cable subscription login), then it's a different story. Nothing has changed.

But as yet, I've seen no online documentation that Prodigy will be on CTV SCI-FI in leau of its domestic rights shifting zo Netflix USA. . Just that its on the app and on CTV's website.

Nothing on ctv.ca yet at least. But it doesn't even show up on Netflix in Canada, so if CTV doesn't have it I don't know what that means.

It means we're shit outta luck and jolly well fucked.
Yeah you'd assume it'd come out at the same time or they'd announce something.

You have to use "military grade encryption" as the Youtubers call it to find ways to use Netflix in Canada to watch it I guess.

Yeah, I find the whole situation incredibly annoying. Almost an insult to Canadian fans that this shit couldn't have been worked out before now. I can't remember a time in my lifetime where I couldn't legally watch a major show or film, just because I'm in Canada.

Frustrating.

The Star Trek deals happened because CBS was more than happy to take someone's money for the rights especially since Paramount Plus wasn't in Canada at the time.

But for whatever reason all those international deals with Prodigy weren't part of whatever deals they made for all the other shows and here we are... with France putting out the entire run several months early and CTV not even announcing if they are going to bother with season 2.

I'm going to wait a week to see if we get some clarity. If not I will be looking at other options to see Prodigy.

For some reason the international rights division is such a separate beast that even as part of their austerity measures they are looking at restructuring that.

I don't think this is *entirely* unheard of, though. OK, maybe not with "major" shows, but TBH outside of our fandom, I'm not sure Prodigy would be considered a "major" show either. I seem to remember not that many years ago that I was unable to watch a show that was actually filmed here in Canada, and being frustrated with that. Unfortunately, I don't remember now what the show was. :(

I do entirely agree that's it's super annoying, though. Now I guess I have to be really careful about where I go online. :sigh:

I'm starting to wonder if Prodigy did poorly on CTV Sci-Fi and Bell Media can't be bothered giving priority to a show they perceive as small fry.

Because they are only shooting themselves on the foot by not promoting and / or delaying the release [ if they do indeed have rights to S2)

Can I watch 'Star Trek: Prodigy' season 2 in Canada?

Canada is one of the only Netflix territories where "Star Trek: Prodigy" season 2 isn't available (as well as the likes of the Nordics, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Belarus, CEE countries and Mainland China).

Instead, Canada's broadcaster is CTV. The first season went out on its Sci-Fi Channel.

However, for the time being, there's no sign of the new episodes on CTV's upcoming schedule.

If you're from the U.S., have travelled north of the border and still want to watch "Star Trek: Prodigy", then we can only recommend that you take a peek at our guide to the best Netflix VPNs.

I’m really worried the “avoiding spoilers” thing is not going to be easy. I had to catch myself yesterday when I realized I couldn’t go in the Prodigy General Discussion Thread anymore. And that’s not even considering THE WHOLE REST OF THE INTERNET!

Although let’s not forget about some of our European friends, who I believe are in the same boat as us. (Unless SkyShowtime has already started showing season 2—I couldn’t find a lot of details online about when they were starting, either.)
