It's very probably not written yet, maybe they have some kind of general outline but otherwise they would need the full writer's room to write 20 episodes. If they had a third season written, even if it wasn't made, that just compounds the tragedy

That was always a possibility, and I can see the logic from Paramount's perspective since up until the last year or so the Canadian Paramount+ outlet was a bit of a joke given they could not have any of the Paramount+ original shows due to pre-existing deals in place with other Canadian channels. IE, Bell Media had the Star Trek shows, The Good Fight was on W, The Stand was on the Canadian Amazon Prime outlet. And given the "back catalogue" of other CBS shows were already available through other streaming services, there wasn't really a reason to get Paramount+ in Canada. It's only been the past year, year and a half that's changed and the Canadian Paramount+ started getting access to the original shows when they started getting 1883, Halo, 1923, and others. What worries me as a Canadian fan and viewer is the possibility that - regardless of what Bell Media's leadership thinks and wants - CBS/Paramount+ won't want to continue the relationship that's been in place from the start of DSC to now.
Yes. I think that it will be seen as one of the Trek franchise's most underrated entries.Sad, since I think it captures the best of Trek.
They may not be able to do that if they decide to take the tax break. If they can't sell it to another service/network, then the potential income from selling direct to video would have to outweigh the tax benefits. In terms of finding a new home with new content, I voted uncertain.
Re Season 2 - Considering Paramount's history of doing multiple double dipping with physical media releases, at the very least I predict S2 will eventually get a bluray/disc release. I just dont see Paramount just leaving untapped content out there without trying to cash in in some manner.
If that's the route they take, I believe It would be the first Star Trek show or movie in history to go to the "direct to video" route. (Not counting the VHS release of "The Cage")

Well if season 1 fyls off the shelves and become hard to find, I hope that would be an indcater that there is demand/profit to be made.
