How about a ST Resurgence novel or two?

I absolutely loved the game and the comic book series. So how about a novel or two to help flesh out the crew a bit more, since it's probably unlikely we're going to get another game.

I'd read it.

I don’t think the game sold very well.

These days there's hardly any Star Trek novels at all and the few that are published are more likely going to go to one of the in-production shows or TOS as that's where the money is. Maybe if we were back in the days of twelve novels a year, this idea might be entertained, but those days are in the past.

No reason not to continue the story in other mediums.
Continuing is the tricky part. The storyline was highly variable, with a half-dozen major characters, including one of the two POV characters, potentially ending the game promoted, resigned, brainwashed, or dead.

There could be another prequel or cameo in another novel where we only see the captain on-screen, but the game certainly seemed to be designed to be sequel-proof.

I also like the game, the end was a little bit disappointing though. I would love to see a book set after the game to see how captain Rydek is doing. And about the choices, just pic ons of them, like they did with the star wars Revan book

I was not the biggest fan of the game tbh. It was either a mostly interesting interactive movie with annoying and simple game mechanics jammed in, or a primitive and simple game with way too many cut scenes. But I'm glad others enjoyed it a lot more.

I imagine the original characters are the property of the devs, so they'd need a cut and input for anything to happen.

Since it's an official, Paramount-licensed Star Trek game, then everything in it is the property of Paramount, the same as with any other licensed tie-in. Any original characters or elements the developers created would have been created while they were working as contractors on Paramount's behalf, and would have been derived from concepts belonging to Paramount such as Starfleet, the Federation, and Trek's alien species, so they'd still be Paramount's property (at least under US law).

It's possible that the developers would be entitled to royalties for the use of the characters and elements they created (if they have better contracts than we novelists get), but that's not ownership, it's just part of the compensation that they'd be contractually entitled to in exchange for the work they did on Paramount's behalf.

Nah, they just pick canon version and go from there, like they do with tons of other video games.

“Game” is definitely being kind.
