Well the article WAS WRITTEN for an actual 'Christian News' website - so is it a surprise a reporter writing for such a site would emphasize the 'Cristian' aspect of this story in a major way? He/She is writing it for their core readership.I get the feeling the article is quoting him out of context. Vic has strong religious beliefs, and he's not shy about expressing his faith, but the article makes it sound like he's deliberately exploiting STC to push a religious agenda, which I don't think is the case. He's not trying to turn Star Trek into "VeggieTales in Space".
That one was Gene Roddenberry's baby, all the way, "The Omega Glory." Sure, "Yang" and "Kohm" are allegorical terms, but the flag, national anthem, pledge, and preamble references are completely literal. I don't know what to call it, if not patriotic propaganda. And Gene's vision. But then you also had the American flag allegory in that one episode
