Has anyone here had a scam phone call?

I never pick up unknown numbers. Instead I read the transcriptions like:

"Press one Chinese query reasons please press two Niha, did you eat her? She said she hot dancing you fool you and touch shit yeah doing fool yeah....".

Hands down, the translated transcriptions from Chinese robocallers are the best!

I’ve answered them a couple of times. Once, it was a grandparent scam, and I said the person should be ashamed of themself.
The second time was a computer scam. I think it was the first time Dad heard me drop an F-Bomb…
ETA: That second was after my mom and grandfather had passed, and these scammers had called them. I was royally irate that day.

We just got one on the business line that we've been getting on and off for several years. Claims to be from Yellowpages, and they want you to 'update your business listing'. Problem is, we've never used Yellowpages to list anything.

In our previous house our old phone number was previously listed with a brothel. The first six months living there was just so much fun with the calls we got. /s

We did change it after all that stuff
"Hey, is Star there tonight?"
"No man, she quit yesterday."
"Any idea where she went?"
"Back to Vancouver."

If I was using a fake number, getting something that was given away like comps or mugs n such that I had no further interest in being contacted about, 867-5309 came in handy.

Has anyone not? Being scammed is the biggest constant of our culture.

Hmm ... did David Letterman ever use this idea?

"Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce Robert T. Hornsby of Muncie. Indiana. He's the only person in this country who's never endured an unsolicited call."

(Applause. )

Before Robert can respond, the phone in his pocket plays a generic tone.
You can guess the rest.

Ooh those Victorians....... Well could have been a spooofed number just got one from "Fortune fast" about investments from an 03 number which over here is Victoria

I had a few foreign numbers call me before I had number ID asking for my IP, I just hang up, now I don't pick up when I see a non Belgian number. And I once had a WhatsApp text from someone who claimed they were my child, I told them nice try but I'm childless. I also had a email that was supposed to be from my social assistant, that was creepy.

Do y'all also read or hear about people being scammed? Because I feel like these are regular occurrence here. Like fake articles about famous Belgians advertising to use bitcoin and people telling them not to trust it, and victims telling them not to trust it. And still gullible people are falling for it! I lost sympathy for them

I used to get five or a dozen scam calls daily until I went to a new phone with a different provider. My new phone has Scam Shield and scams don't even ring my phone now. I used to Google the number if they didn't leave a message, just in case, but now I don't bother, I just report them as scams in Scam Shield and block. Anyone I possibly ever need to talk to is in my contacts.

I don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number. Usually they're debt collectors who want money from someone not named me who didn't ever have my phone number, but they don't care that I'm not that person.

Lately there have been a lot of fake political texts asking for donations but they're scammers. They also never name drop any politicians I can actually vote for. The majority of them involve Ted Cruz.

I wish there was a way to block texts based on key words because the ones that open with a name don't actually know my name. I am not Candi!

Yep. Same.

Got one from George W. Bush's mother at 2 in the morning back when he was running. I viewed it as a scam.

I've gotten a couple of scam text messages the last two weeks saying that I needed to pay my toll bill or face a fine, having my license revoked and possibly jail time.
Seeing as I take surface streets to and from home/work, I ignored it and blocked the numbers.

My friend once put a scammer claiming to be running some sort of a survey on speakerphone so I shouted at the phone asking the scammer if they know Maynard James Keenan. Lol

I've been getting those. I blocked and forwarded as spam to '7726'

This is one of the big scams going around right now. I'm getting them every day.
