Bald Sisko. The same look on Cirroc Lofton is really bad-ass as well.

Lofton as Uhura's half-Vulcan son in the "Of Gods and Men" alternate timeline.

Oh god, he really looks like Sisko's son!!!
If he didn't act so very good, you would think Tony Todd was horribly miscast as older Jake, now.

I like Sisko bald and with the goatee for the same reasons I like Riker with the beard. For the both characters, the change in their physical appearance was part of what started making me take them more seriously. Pre-beard Riker was a bit too much of skirt chaser like Kirk, but once he got the beard it seemed like it he was more serious and I took him more seriously. With Sisko, the goatee and shaved head made him look almost like a completely different person. Sure, it wasn't just the change in his physical appearance - he got the Defiant, he got a promotion to captain - but bald, goatteed Sisko looks much more badass than hair-on-head, clean-shaven Sisko. Not to mention more attractive.

For me, Sisko was born when he shaved that head of his. After Kirk, Starfleet captains just don't look good hairy.

I think we associate the change in Sisko's appearance with the change of Trek in general.

I noticed that once Sisko changed his appearance, the action, dialog and attitude changed in Trek, or at least seemed to change.

Trek, (DS9, Voy, etc,) seemed less uptight about itself afterwards.

Once he grew the goatee and shaved his head, how could Avery look in the mirror and NOT feel compelled to play the role in a more badass way?

Bald Sisko obviously, because he had a more distinctive, badass appearance. Haired, clean shaven Sisko looked like just another Starfleet officer. Though it got better as soon as he grew a goatee.

Yeah, I think "badass," as you described it, is the term. It certainly lent those rugged, authoritative qualities to his appearance, which is a good thing versus the hair and no beard look he had early on.

Dude, a beard makes people take a man seriously. Just look at Riker pre-beard and post-beard, heh. The shaved head helped too, but I think it was the goatee that really did it for me with Sisko. He just looks better in every way - more handsome, more authoritative, more confident, more seasoned ... it just ... works!

Nobody's mentioned Sisko's other look: full head of hair with goatee.

Keep up the trend Picard > Sisko > Next ?
You forgot Shatner; we all know his secret. So, Kirk, Picard, Sisko... maybe Janeway would have been cooler with a chrome dome.
