That's a interesting choice, she definitely has the looks that fits many of the Gundam Heroines.I thought for sure this had to be an April Fools joke, but the article is dated March 31. Sydney Sweeney in talks for a Gundam movie.

Sydney Sweeney in Final Talks for ‘Gundam’ Movie at Legendary

You can't claim Bandai Namco aren't willing to take risks.Saw episode 1 of GQX, and I wasn't a fan. I can't believe that Bandai allowed a Gundam show with such awful mech design/animation to get made. Whose going to buy merch of that junk? The actual story, writing and character designs in episode 1 are also awful (no surprise, coming from the director of FLCL), but the bad mech design and almost unwatchable cg mech "action" was just shocking. Definitely won't be watching any more of it.
The mecha designs are from the same guy who did Evangelion. The series co-created by the guy who created Evangelion. Those are both guaranteed to have people buying in Japan, which is what Bandai cares about.Whose going to buy merch of that junk?

They aren't going to bat 1000 when they try to be risky.
As we've seen with their recent outtings.
But it's better to sometimes try new things, fail, and learn from them.
Then to endlessly re-hash the same old tropes & storylines repeatedly.
I haven't watched it yet, but I'll go watch it pretty soon.

Gundam SEED.I'd argue that is better to rehash good stuff then to put out something like GQX. They haven't even tried to do a "standard" Gundam show since, what, Gundam 00?
It's different as well.Maybe Iron Blooded Orphans, but I haven't watched that show so I don't know if its more Gundam like or not.
But it was properly based in the UC timeline.Unicorn is some weird spin off so I don't count it, and it was more of an OVA series then a real TV show anyway.
I'm fairly flexible.I have come to realize that I like normal UC Gundam the best, with most alternate timelines ranging from ok to awful (but usually on the worse end of that range).
That's going to appeal to a very specific demographic within the Anime / Mecha community. That said of course the show made by the person behind FLCL is awful, and getting people from NGE (which I also think is bad) to work on it doesn't help matters.
I was more of a "Sokyuu no Fafner" fan, but even then, there are certain aspects of their mecha design that I don't like.Yeah, I guess quality doesn't matter in this case (NGE mechs also look terrible, but at least they looked like mechs and don't hurt my eyes to watch).
G-Gundam is also very different from the other AU Gundam series.Anyway, I've said my piece. I'm trying to give G-Gundam another chance right now since it feels like a show I should like, and I also have a desire to give the OG series a watch (I watched the OG Compilation movies before watching Zeta instead of watching the series).

The Original Gundam & the UC timeline is it's own beast.
It's also in that weird Post CCA era were Mobile Suits have Shrunken again on the average.Speaking of the UC timeline, I just watched Gundam F91 today (after having forgotten about it), and it was pretty good. It gave me that UC Gundam feel I was missing. It definitely suffers from being basically a whole unmade anime series worth of story compressed into two hours, but the characters generally didn't annoy me, the animation was good to great and it had good mechs. I think I would have liked it a lot if it had been its own series. Seabrook is a great Gundam pilot protagonist right from the start, not having to spend a lot of time being annoying before becoming good like Amuro and Kamille did. Now the movie's Char Clone, Iron Mask, was a lame Darth Vader rip off but at least he was fairly threatening. Overall its a movie that deserved a series, but is still pretty good as a movie and worth of being a UC story.
So, for a nail the Federation lost the war?![]()
To think that the timeline all hinges on Gene being there and being an insubordinate fuck-up.So, for a nail the Federation lost the war?![]()
